Digital Foundry tests PSSR 2 on Alan Wake 2 and it's a dramatic improvement. "No image quality complaints from me whatsoever. And it shows that performance modes on PS5 Pro can easily exceed the IQ in the quality modes on the PS5." "Like FSR2 vs DLSS, it's a huge upgrade"

Today on Digital Foundry - what is RTX Mega Geometry and how does it run in Alan Wake 2? We're looking at efficiency, quality and performance improvements here and curiously, in our tests, it's RTX 20-series and 30-series that benefit most:

Today on Digital Foundry, it's time to take a look at STALKER 2 on PS5 and PS5 Pro. It's a great port which benefits from the past year of updates, including the excellent patch 1.7. We also retest PC and Xbox Series X:

Digital Foundry analyses Crimson Desert on PS5 Pro and concludes it's "fantastic on PS5 Pro. They actually did it". Also "one of the most impressive open world experiences" John's had. Has RT in all modes and perfomance is mostly stable even at 60fps, save for some egregious extremes where it can drop to the 30's, though 40fps and 30fps modes stay near locked. Will have PSSR 2.0 at launch, which DF couldn't test with this version of the game, so will improve further. #CrimsonDesert #PS5Pro

Crimson Desert | Digital Foundry PS5 Pro Breakdown Full Breakdown: - Dynamic RT global illumination and reflections in all modes - Performance mode 'by and large' maintained the 60 FPS target - Can run above 60 FPS with a VRR display - Specific areas like 'Bug Hill', especially those with large crowds, saw occasional FPS dips - PSSR upscaling is used in all modes - DF was using a build with the old version of PSSR, launch build should look better

More coverage of the upgraded PSSR on PlayStation 5 Pro. Alan Wake 2 proved highly challenging for the original PSSR, particularly at its native 864p in performance mode. The patched version is another huge improvement:

The pre-release version of Crimson Desert reviewed by Digital Foundry on PS5 Pro had some significant dips in framerate in optimized mode which targets 60FPS. This happened during a combat sequence where you have tons of enemies and NPC around you. As Digital Foundry suggested this is a sign of a CPU-bottleneck from the Zen 2 architecture on the PS5 Pro. When they tested out Quality mode, it had a locked 30FPS with little to no dips.
