Rep Ben Cline asks AG Pam Bondi why they're STILL enforcing a registration requirement, and the felony criminal penalties that come with it, for NFA items despite the "tax" being removed as of January 1st this year. She responds that it's "pending litigation" which is technically true. However, it's only true because her DOJ hasn't dropped their support of it in court. A federal judge just ruled that because Congress zeroed out the NFA tax in the Big Beautiful Bill, the federal registration and approval process for suppressors and other NFA items no longer has a legal basis. No more tax stamp. No more waiting on ATF approval for transfers. Dealers are still waiting on clear guidance, and the government has time to appeal, but the principle is clear: When the tax goes away, the regulatory scheme that depended on it collapses. Justice Gorsuch is right here. When you read the 2nd Amendment, then apply the Heller & Bruen standards which are correct legal precedents, there's no way someone who uses a substance (whatever it may be) from time to time should be prohibited from defending themselves how they see fit in America. Why are suppressors — a basic safety tool — so heavily regulated? The unconstitutional National Firearms Act of 1934 implemented burdensome regulations and a $200 tax on suppressors. Over 90 years later, that tax still exists. It was never about safety — it was about control. Last night, Ways and Means Committee passed my provision to cut that tax to $0. I applaud AG Harmeet Dhillon, the head of DOJ's Civil Rights Division, for standing up against the unconstitutional laws that will (99.9999% chance) go into "law" this summer. However, lawsuits simply aren't enough for these tyrants. They don't care that they'll have to use Virginia state tax dollars to fight the federal government in court. They'll just forcibly steal more taxes from Virginians until the legal process is over and the tyrants behind these "laws" will not be held personally accountable for what they're doing which is textbook criminal "deprivation of rights under color of law (18 U.S.C. § 242)." Governor Spanberger, and others like her, need to be arrested and criminally tried for what they're doing to their citizens. They are the very "domestic enemies" our founders warned against. If a state governor just re-instituted slavery, violating the 13th Amendment, they'd be arrested by the feds. If Australia wants to start heading in the right direction then reforming our tax system has to be of the highest priority. Our tax base is severely eroded because our tax act allows foreign companies to pay less tax than Australian companies making all Australians poorer. What's so frustrating about all of this is that Treasury and the ATO are aware of this issue and does nothing about it, yet are more than happy to increase taxes on Australians. It beggars belief for example that the ATO has not updated our tax treaty with Ireland since 1983 as billions of dollars are being sent there by Multinationals to avoid paying tax in Australia. President Trump called for a 1 year in prison if someone burns the American flag earlier today at Fort Bragg, NC. *in almost every circumstance* where an American flag is burned in protest multiple crimes are already being committed but the people who burn the flag are almost never prosecuted for those crimes. That could likely be fixed in many cases with the DOJ if they were directed to prosecute such cases. This would also be a clear violation of the 1st Amendment unless he's calling for a Constitutional amendment and maybe he is. But, the 2nd, 4th, 10th, & 14th amendments (probably more but those jump to the front of my mind while typing this) have already been turned into second class rights that are regularly trampled on by the federal government. We don't need to add the 1st amendment to that list IMO. I obviously don't like to see our flag be burned but I also believe the 1st amendment is pretty clear on this.
