Building a Skilled Maharashtra for a Stronger Future! Inaugurated the Nagpur Skill Centre today along with Hon Union Minister Nitin Gadkari ji. Established through the collaboration of AID and Tata, the centre will equip youth with industry-oriented skills and create a future-ready workforce. Under the visionary leadership of PM Narendra Modi Ji, skill development has become a national priority. Maharashtra is further strengthening this vision through a dedicated Skill Development Department, ensuring closer collaboration between the government, industry and educational institutions to enhance employability. The state's expanding healthcare, solar energy, EV and alternate fuel sectors are creating significant demand for skilled professionals. Maharashtra has become the first state to supply agricultural power through a 16,000 MW Agri Solar network, with 2000 solar feeders expected to generate demand for at least 50,000 trained solar technicians. To prepare youth for emerging industries, the state is partnering with the Tata Group and Ratan Tata Maharashtra State Skills University to provide training ranging from basic skills to advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Quantum. More skill centres will be established across Maharashtra to support continuous upskilling. Approval has also been granted to establish a state-of-the-art Skill University in Nagpur. The university will feature specialised schools in collaboration with leading corporates and expert institutions, ensuring students graduate with industry-ready skills and placement opportunities. With Nagpur and Vidarbha emerging as hubs for solar modules, EVs, coal gasification, carbon capture and steel manufacturing, the focus remains on creating a skilled local workforce. Maharashtra currently operates around 2500 Skill Development Centres, training nearly 4 lakh youth. According to the Skill India report, 75% of trainees have secured employment, with the target of increasing this to 90%. To further strengthen skill development initiatives, presided over the signing and exchange of an MoU between the Association of Industrial Development (AID) and the National Academy of Defence Production (NADP), Nagpur. This partnership will foster stronger industry-academia collaboration, promote innovation and experiential learning, support the MSME and vendor ecosystem, and develop a future-ready talent pool for the defence manufacturing sector. Chaired a productive meeting with WorldBank and MITRA officials on the Maharashtra Resilience Development Project (MRDP), earlier today. Reviewed the current progress of the project and directed time-bound action on flood mitigation in Krishna basin, urban stormwater systems in Sangli-Kolhapur and Ichalkaranji, EWS integration with real-time weather data, and climate risk financing for MSME and parametric insurance for gig workers through MITRA. Also guided on institutional reforms & fast-tracked clearances. Infrastructure, Investment, and Water Conservation – Maharashtra on the Rise!✨ It was an overwhelming moment to be at 'TiEcon Mumbai 2025: India’s Leading Entrepreneurial Leadership Summit' in Mumbai, today. Humbled to receive the 'TiE Mumbai Hall of Fame' award at the hands of the legendary, Infosys founder Narayana Murthy ji. This award is a proud recognition of the governance model we embarked on in 2014 under the visionary leadership of our Hon PM Narendra Modi Ji. Receiving this award today is not just an honour but a realization that our efforts are making a real difference and that we are on the right path together. All these transformative infrastructure projects in Maharashtra, especially in Mumbai and MMR—be it the Coastal Road, Atal Setu, Metro Network, or the Vadhavan Project—have become a reality because of our governance, which turned aspirations into achievements. Every project has been backed by thorough study and dedicated efforts, and under the visionary leadership of Hon PM Narendra Modi Ji, we have worked relentlessly to make them happen. Today, these ongoing projects are set to boost the State’s growth significantly. The 4th Mumbai will be created in the area of Vadhavan which will emerge as a dynamic new city, driving massive GDP growth and creating a thriving business ecosystem. In just 5 years, we planned and initiated 372 Km of metro, out of which 150 Km is now delivered. With each passing year, we will continue expanding and delivering more, ensuring a stronger and more connected Maharashtra. Being recognized for water conservation is a significant achievement. In 2014, 14 schemes were executed by 6 different departments. We streamlined them into one scheme, one leader, and one department, launching the ambitious 'Jalyukt Shivar' initiative. Our goal was to make 25,000 villages drought-free, and the Marathwada region saw a significant rise in water levels. In the 2020 Government of India's Groundwater Report, Maharashtra was the only state to show improvement compared to others. This award also recognizes investments, and once again, Maharashtra has become the top destination for FDI. This year, we have broken all previous records—surpassing our own ₹31,000 crore investment milestone from 2016-17. In just 9 months, we have secured ₹1.39 lakh crore in investments, with 50% of the country's FDI flowing into Maharashtra. Today, Maharashtra stands as the new startup capital of India. We are dedicated to reviving Mumbai’s glory and propelling Maharashtra to unmatched greatness! Introduced under the leadership of Hon PM Narendra Modi Ji through the vision of 'One Nation, One Tax', GST marked a historic turning point in India's tax reforms. The invaluable contribution of the late Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley ji in shaping this landmark reform will always be remembered. Another moment in this transformational journey has been the establishment of the GST Council, one of the most significant pillars of the GST framework and a true example of cooperative federalism, where the Centre and the States collectively take consensus-based decisions. Maharashtra has consistently remained at the forefront of GST implementation and has emerged as the GST Capital of India. Maharashtra continues to register unprecedented growth in GST collections. During the last financial year, the State received nearly ₹1.87 lakh crore as its GST share. Maharashtra remains the highest GST-contributing State in the country, with GST collections exceeding the combined collections of Karnataka and Gujarat, the States ranked second and third. GST 2.0 is a bold and significant step wherein structural changes and rationalisation of tax slabs have benefited businesses by simplifying compliance and creating greater opportunities for growth. Continuous efforts are being made to further improve the Ease of Doing Business through ongoing reforms and simplification measures.
