During DLSS 5 Hands-On Video, YouTube creator Hot Hardware asked Nvidia employees this question about the computational cost of DLSS 5 when you move around in the game and it really caught my eye on how they hesitated on showing any DLSS 5 footage during motion. Every time that...

Nvidia recently showcased DLSS 5 again being used in character face models and talked about how developers are able to control the intensity of DLSS 5 being applied for “creative freedom”. However, if you look closely at the video when they move the slider, the character face structure (especially on the nose) changes significantly, this is one thing that I don't think generative AI gets right, especially during motion. There are also three different models trained on different data resulting in multiple looks that the developers can also choose from.

DLSS 5 OFF vs ON in Cyberpunk 2077, recorded by me. The unofficial version has been modded to work on RTX 40 Series hardware as well. So… what do we actually think about NVIDIA DLSS 5? Are you impressed, skeptical, or is this simply not a direction you want for game visuals?

It all started with fake frames, now its evolving onto fake graphics? Imagine if FSR, XeSS and PSSR started embracing this kind of upscaling. In the same game, you will have different looking outputs for every different upscaler because these AI models wont be trained on the same data. Grace in this case here, will look different on an Nvidia GPU using DLSS 5, she will look different using FSR, PSSR or XeSS. You get the point I don't why but I always felt that DLSS was always supposed to provide only one thing, give gamers a better framerate while retaining the same image quality as native resolution. I don't want a randomized output for a character's face that I won't recognize if I turn on DLSS 5 even if my framerate triples. Nvidia and all the game studios embracing this AI slop should take a step back in my opinion because this is not it, even if it is years away.

What DLSS 5 is and isn't, visualized: Top is Bodycam Game BODYCAM with DLSS 5 injected on a local game. Bottom is the same footage ran through Seedance 2.5 to be reimagined as a jungle trench. DLSS 5 doesn't make your game look real, it's just additional shaders to fix lighting. It doesn't mess with meshes, textures, or anything else, DLSS 5 is literally the same thing as shader packs for Skyrim or whatever with ENB. The AI version has issues as the base footage was lacking the brightness, animations, and visuals to indicate when a weapon swap occurred. If you see anything wildly different, it's because the bump maps for that object are getting shaded like never before. Please note, Nvidia themselves have said that DLSS 5 will need to be tuned by each game developer and isn't meant to be used at random, but there it is. Anything else people have shown is wildly inaccurate.

Nvidia DLSS 5 is looking like the real deal when it comes to environmental visuals. The boost in detail, lighting, and overall clarity shown in this footage is impressive. I’m still not a fan of how it changes character rendering, but the upgrade it delivers to everything else is undeniable. The improvements shown in the video speak for themselves. Another quick look at DLSS 5 in #FC26 combined with my existing reshade and v10 of my gameplay mod. Rather than just showing a bunch of close-ups, I want to keep showing DLSS 5 during actual gameplay. This clip also happens to show off some nice physicality, contact and fouls along the way. 🌐Get V10 of my gameplay mod here (NOT DLSS 5): 🎨 Want my Realistic ReShade? 🚨 CN PLAYERS ARE ALREADY EXPERIMENTING WITH DLSS 5 IN NTE. This is NOT the official NTE DLSS 5 release, so keep that in mind. Some CN players have been testing an unofficial pre-release DLSS 5 build on RTX 50 Series GPUs, and the results are honestly fascinating. 👀 The biggest difference isn't just sharper graphics. DLSS 5 can dramatically change how the game renders: ✅ Skin ✅ Hair ✅ Materials ✅ Lighting ✅ Shadows ✅ Fabric ✅ Character depth In some scenes NTE starts looking MUCH more realistic. But it definitely isn't perfect yet. Players are also reporting: ⚠️ Characters looking too realistic or "plastic" ⚠️ Stronger AI-reconstructed appearance in shadows ⚠️ Visual artifacts ⚠️ Occasional instability ⚠️ Extremely heavy GPU requirements And that's important because this experimental version has NOT been properly optimized or adapted for NTE yet. The finished version could look very different. What makes this especially interesting is that NTE is already OFFICIALLY confirmed to receive DLSS 5 later. So I'm not looking at these tests as "this is what NTE will look like." I'm looking at them as a very early glimpse of what this technology could potentially do once Hotta and NVIDIA properly integrate it. And THAT has me extremely curious. 🔥 Would you want NTE characters to become more realistic like this, or should Hotta preserve the current anime look as much as possible? #NTE #NevernessToEverness #NTEネバエバ #NTECreator

Jensen Huang says the gamers calling DLSS 5 'AI slop' got it backward — the artist still owns every frame. Lex asked Huang about the gamers calling DLSS 5 "AI slop." Huang didn't dodge. "I don't love AI slop myself," Huang says. "All of the AI generated content increasingly looks similar, and they're all beautiful." "I'm empathetic towards what they're thinking." "That's just not what DLSS 5 is trying to do." Then he named what DLSS 5 actually is: "DLSS 5 is 3D conditioned, 3D guided. It's ground truth structure data guided." "The artist determined the geometry. We are completely truthful to the geometry." "It's conditioned by the textures, the artistry of the artist." Did Cyberpunk 2077 just beat GTA 6 graphics? The NVIDIA DLSS 5 Neural AI leak allows modders to enable it for nearly any game now, from Gatcha games to Skyrim and now Cyberpunk 2077. YouTuber Swurvgaming shows off maxed out DLSS 5 Neural Rendering, which uses AI to render characters extremely realistically with higher fidelity than even GTA 6 arguable. Whether or not you like the look is something else. Many are calling it the worst thing they've ever seen, with uncanny valley and AI slop accusation. If you look at my other posts like DLSS 5 on Skyrim, you will see the look can be subtle too and there are sliders you can use to tune it. Subtle is better, IMHO. This is done via the RenoDX mod, which unlocks a still experimental NVIDIA DLL feature. This technology was first demo's by nVidia and took TWO 5090's to run. Now it's running at 30fps on a 5060 for many games like CONTROL. I think this tech is going to start dominating games, not just for realism, but for stylized looks and refreshing older games like Skyrim, where the tech works without that feeling of creepy alienation. This is just one filter. With AI you can train it for a lot of different looks, like Anime or even something like Arcane. Changing the look of a game will be something available at the flick of a switch and personalized by you, the player's taste.

I've been messing around with the leaked DLSS 5 on the 4070 Super, and, tbh, I'm really impressed by some of the things it can do. The way it can enhance and refine the game's lighting is particularly impressive, it adds more depth to the GI and enhance the ambient shading while also altering materials properties (Roughness, specularity, ect). But I'm still not impressed by what it does to character faces. They may look great in screenshots but when they move or talk, most of the time they have that waxy, generated AI look which I personally don't like. That said, it's great that this leaked version of DLSS 5 comes with a lot of sliders to tweak the intensity and find a balance that looks more natural. I just hope the official version keeps the same level of tweaking, or at least comes with different presets and options. As for performance, this is obviously not something aimed at mid-range or low-end GPUs, at least for now. The performance cost is massive, and I don't think it's worth using unless you have a high-end GPU with a lot of performance to spare.

This whole DLSS 5 Ai Discourse in a nutshell. Max has great points here, many people people got tricked into thinking it looks good but if you look at the overall picture it actually looks like Shit, this Ai Horseshit doesn't know where the light source is supposed to be and it just makes up random features of characters. I changed my stance on this, Generative Ai on DLSS 5 is Pure Ai Slop, it's pure Horsehit. 🐎💩 #NoAi #NotInmyGames #DLSS5 🐎💩

Here's everything we know about Nvidia's "greatest leap in graphics since real-time ray tracing" You can see Digital Foundry's jaw drop in this reaction after they just saw DLSS 5.0: - Will ship in Fall of 2026! - Demo ran 4k on 2 5090's but is already running on single GPU in their labs. - Will run and ship on single GPUs. - Doesn't change the scene or geo, just relights it super accurately. - Nvidia say they look at this as trying to anticipate the original, fully realized vision of the game. - Works on environments, not just characters. - Todd Howard has signed off on it, saying it's how he wanted Starfield to be seen. - Developer can tune DLSS 5 lighting. - You can apply to games as primitive as Minecraft, it's not just for high end games. - Developers are already on board. - Should scale with output resolutions. "I don't think I've seen a demo as astonishing as this..."

There are two things worth pointing out about upscaling in #AssassinCreed Black Flag Resynced. 1. Incorrect resolution scaling with Balanced and Performance modes: Using Balanced or Performance with any upscaler causes the game's Resolution Scale (output resolution) to drop, which also lowers the internal render resolution. As a result, these modes apply incorrect scaling and the image quality is noticeably worse than it should be. For now, the workaround is to set the Resolution Scale to 100% and manually adjust the Max Dynamic Resolution (internal resolution) to match the expected scaling for Balanced or Performance mode. 2. The game defaults to the older DLSS 3 CNN model: By default, the game uses the older DLSS 3 Preset E. While it's still a fine option, it doesn't match the image quality of the DLSS 4 Transformer model (Preset K) or the newer DLSS 4.5 (Preset L and M). So I highly recommend forcing at least Preset K through the NVIDIA App (or another tool). Even on RTX 20/30 series GPUs, with Preset K, you can maintain the same performance as before while getting better image quality by using a lower upscaling mode, like Balanced instead of Quality. Hopefully Ubisoft Support fixes the scaling issue and adds an in-game option to choose between DLSS 3, DLSS 4, and DLSS 4.5.

Will DLSS 5 ruin art direction in video-games? Jensen himself explained that DLSS 5 is a fusion of 3D controllable graphics with generative AI that is probabilistic. Yet at the same time, the developers will supposedly have full control of their game's unique aesthetic through controls for intensity, color grading and masking?

#CONTROLResonant is one of the best use cases for DLSS Ray Reconstruction. RR in this game doesn't just improve the RT effects and provide better image quality in most cases (It can blur out and remove some texture detail on a few surfaces), It also delivers similar or even better performance compared to the default denoisers. However, this mainly applies to newer RTX 40 and 50 series GPUs. On older RTX cards, the new DLSS 4.5 RR model has a much higher overhead and comes with a heavy performance penalty.

You might have seen some posts that Highguard runs at a fake in-game resolution, but its not exactly what you think. Steam User Captain_SmellyRat noticed this issue first by pointing out that if you set render scale at 100%,the game would still show 80% of the resolution in DLSS hud UI. So If you're playing at 1080p, the internal resolution would be 864p and If you don't change the default render scale (which seems to be always set to 75%) the final resolution would be 648p. However it turns out that the in-game resolution is changed in value directly from post-processing settings that you set. Post-processing quality settings would change the internal resolution as follows: Low - 80% of in-game resolution Medium - 90% of in-game resolution High - 100% of in-game resolution If you're playing at high settings, you will not notice the game looking blurry, but if you play at medium or low settings, the game will look extremely blurry even though you think you're playing at 1080p or 4k. I find it weird that post-processing quality directly affects the internal game resolution, but if you're playing the game and it looks blurry to you, make sure you set the post processing quality to high. Whenever this was intentional or not to achieve a higher FPS, I don't exactly know. However, I still think the developers should have clarified what each settings affects the game, which in this case here it directly affects the resolution.

I've said this in the past...The importance of having a character you love or your main character in a fighting game is huge especially if you are a casual player like me. Without a character you vibe with on the roster you will be less likely to play the game. I miss my main character so this past week I went back to get some games in on SFV. To all the Alex players out there especially the ones I still keep in touch with...Don't stop believing...because I never will. And shout outs to my guy Yipes...You know what time it is. AlexForSF6 🫡

To all the Alex players out there especially the ones I still keep in touch with...Don't stop believing...because I never will. And shout outs to my guy Yipes...You know what time it is.
