Two men were killed in a double homicide on Chicago's Far Northwest Side on Thursday afternoon, June 25, 2026. The Irving Woods Shooting According to the Chicago Police Department reported by WGN-TV and the Chicago Tribune, the victims were discovered by officers at approximately 3:30 p.m. in the 7800 block of West Cahill Terrace in the city's Irving Woods/Dunning neighborhood. The gunfire erupted just before 11 p.m. outside The Centre, a rentable event venue located within the Santa Clarita Sports Complex. First responders found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were rushed to area trauma centers, with paramedics performing CPR on one of the men using a LUCAS mechanical chest compression device during transport. The officers pursued the suspect into the building, where they encountered a different suspect who was armed with a rifle, Snelling said. The suspect fired the rifle, and an officer also shot their weapon during the incident. A 36-year-old female officer was shot and was taken to the University of Chicago hospital in a squad car, officials told ABC7. She later died due to her injuries, Snelling said. Since March, seven decaying female bodies have been found near the coast in the states of Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island.
