F-15 STRIKE EAGLE II on the Commodore Amiga (MicroProse 1991) Great flight simulator, among the best on the 16-bit generation. Released on many platforms, the Amiga version is specially polished and colorful. Running on the #Amiga1200 here. #AmigaRetweets #lowpoly #programming

Indeed, it is WHDLoad, so the FastRAM is kind of a requirement. But I kept 68020 on the setup, as 68030 seemed way too fast in a not very playable way.

also, the massive manuals u got with the game were amazing! air combat manoeuvres, air to ground tactics etc used to spend hours pouring over it

Agreed. This one, and some earlier titles like F-18 Interceptor, were the start of a golden age of flight sims, which peaked on PC-compatibles (MS-DOS/Win95) in the late 1990s. And kind of vanished in the 2000s.

This was my 2nd fav Amiga flight Sim. My fav was Gunship!! The boxes, the manuals, these games were so good for the time. I prefer these games over the newer flight games such Ace Combat etc, or am I missing something?

I respect Ace Combat series, even as a simplified arcade sim, because it's what remains today from those glory days. Ok, there's also MS FS and DCS, but those are ultra hardcore niche sims, and I still don't have time for them now (maybe after retirement 🙂).
