Finally got variable width working in procedural rivers using a world space post process so they feel less roadlike. I'm thinking it would be good to add wider = slower and thinner = faster, and maybe increase the depth of the carving in thinner sections? iPad Pro (2020).

This is something else. A restaurant that would charge extra for: Silverware insurance? Booth fee? Straws? Table cleaning fee? I'm surprised they didn't add a fee for printing the flippin' receipt! And then they have the audacity to add the tip in the bill as well and leave room for another tip on top of that! This is clearly a prank! It has to be! But if it wasn't, what would your reaction be to seeing a bill like this come to your table? 😏😬

Seems like a good opportunity to share a trick I used on the React Aria website to make headings scale to fit the viewport on mobile, even with SSR. I used fontkit, a library I wrote 10 years ago to parse fonts and layout glyphs, to measure the width of the heading at build time in the "em" unit. width = font.layout('DateRangePicker').advanceWidth / font.unitsPerEm This is a size independent measurement using the font's internal metrics. When multiplied by any font size, you get the pixel width of the text. To calculate the font size, set this as a CSS variable and divide the target width (100vw minus padding). Clamp to make sure it doesn't get too big or small. font-size: clamp(35px, (100vw - 32px) / var(--text-width), 55px) And tada! You have perfectly scaling text no matter the viewport size. 🎉

If you're building apps with and bolt.new, chances are that you're using Supabase Edge Functions. They can be tricky to debug, so I created a guide for the Buildcamp students who are currently on the bootcamp. I'm happy to share this with you guys if it helps? It a repeatable process that gets me through 100% of my edge function problems. Just like this post and comment "Bugs" and I'll ping you a copy.

I see the Left-wing/Ukrainian bots got their talking points. They went from “the labs don’t exist”, to “okay the labs exist but they were doing defensive research”. “Defensive research” is a lie. In the process of defensive research, you create a bioweapon. I’ll explain. Defensive zoonotic research, is when scientists intentionally make animal viruses transmissible in humans, so they can study the virus and proactively develop vaccines, just in case these animal viruses naturally mutate and jump to humans. This way, we have the vaccines already on hand if something were to happen. In theory, it sounds like a good idea, but in the process of creating these vaccines, you must first modify a deadly zoonotic disease, and give it the ability to jump to humans. That’s a biological weapon. If it gets out of the lab, it can now infect the world, and in the case of C19, a man-made bat coronavirus, it did infect the world, and killed millions of people. Why was it so contagious? Because scientists artificially gave it the ability to be transmissible in humans, thus the term “gain of function”. What is the function these zoonotic diseases are gaining? The ability to jump to, and kill, humans. So when anyone says “it’s just defensive research”, they have no idea what they are talking about, and are either running cover or repeating talking points.
