For better visualization during development, I added a map (lower right) that shows how NPCs move (red dots). I my test, they start to walk to the street in the center, then following that street. Next step: zombie herds, bandit gangs, adventurers etc. moving across the map.

Man maybe not only zombi herd perhaps it could be like a group of animal or even a “boss monster” from a biome in a crusade to conquer the other Example: a desert boss monster with a bunch of desert enemies in a jungle biome for They could even attack adventurers and villages.

Let’s talk NPCs! I had a pretty clear idea from the start for how I wanted NPCs to move and behave. The system is built around paths with “connectors”, and every time an NPC reaches one, it decides where to go next based on a few factors. Those factors are things like “Are there already NPCs down this path? I have I come this way before, etc”. The idea was to simulate a certain level of “randomness” to the NPC movement so players can’t easily predict what an NPC will do (like in irl lmao). Once they have crossed enough connectors they then head towards a spawn point and leave the map. Every 30 seconds or so the system calculates how many NPCs are walking around and decides weather or not to put another one in, always aiming to keep things within a certain range. This post is a bit more in-depth than my previous ones, but I felt like showing off a bit more of how things work “under the hood”. Think it’s overengineered? Any suggestions?

Portfolio update: I upgraded Three.js to r182 and got access to brand new shadows. Look how crisp they are! With that I was able to lower the shadow map size tremendously on mobile, improving performance significantly. 👉

I did some pathing today with gdb to plan how to shiny hunt all 5 Legendaries in the special scans, so I will share. For example, I can reset Virizion by running back and forth from the corner balcony to across the street! GDB shows exactly when it's generated in the top right.

Die Rise - Round 25 - Buddha Room Training Die Rise was my first "real" zombie map. I had played Kino/Five & Town before this, but this was the first map I was paying attention to during its launch. I recently visited the site of Highway 413, where work is already well underway as we prepare to start construction next year! Crews are on site, drilling and testing the soil, and they’re already designing bridges and interchanges as they map out the best route forward. I can’t wait to be back in the coming months to see even more progress that will help get drivers moving across the GTA. Listen below for more details ⬇️

Yes, we’ve sold properties on East 59th Street! A few weeks back, my good buddy Don Tepman aka StripMallGuy took a walk down East 59th Street and made a great video about prospecting. He even mentioned he had shown up early for a meeting at The Knakal Map Room and caught me doing what I do every day... making cold calls. In that video, he said, “I’ll bet Bob Knakal has sold a property on this block.” He was right. In fact, not just one, but nine deals across eight buildings (one of them we sold twice). So, I decided to take a walk of my own…from First Avenue to Fifth Avenue…to revisit those buildings and the stories behind them. From 223 to 410 East 59th Street, from $485K in 1994 to $26 million in 2024, this street has been a big part of my 42-year journey through the NYC investment sales world. Some highlights from the walk: · 410 East 59th Street – sold in 1994 for $485K · 308 East 59th Street – sold twice, first to Christie’s, then again for nearly 2x · 225 and 223 East 59th Street – sold for Otic Enterprise and the Kaplow family · Corner of 59th & 3rd – land sale for $100 million to Harry Macklowe, who built something extraordinary · 5 East 59th Street – the old Playboy Club, sold in 2024 for $26M, now becoming Avi the jeweler’s new NYC HQ At 316 East 59th Street, I mentioned in the video that the seller was someone named Marsha but upon digging into my records, I realized her name was actually Ileana Ross, a wonderful woman who had inherited the building from her mother. She lived in Florida, and we closed that deal back in 1992. The video tour was inspired by Don’s great content and curiosity. It's a reminder that every block in NYC has stories (and often deals) waiting to be told. Thanks for the nudge, Don. And yes, my friend, I’ve sold a building or two on that block. I saw a UFO. I was on my evening walk when I saw in my peripheral vision a "circle" in the sky that was luminous. It appeared to be the size of the moon. The object became intensely bright and then appeared to "shrink" down before moving around the night sky with intense acceleration. I wasn't able to move my camera fast enough to follow or track it at times.. I don't know what in the hell it was. Nonetheless, I can safely say that I've never, ever seen anything move like that in the sky..
