FSD Mad Max was apparently upset about this guy moving into its lane that it felt the need to cut him off (we didn’t need to exit for several miles so there was no need to get all the way into the right lane after getting into the left)

Absolute SAVAGERY by mad max on V14.3.3 😂 We’re driving along the highway, and encounter traffic. We are supposed to be on the roadway I’m pointing at with an arrow a few seconds into the video. FSD knows from mapping that the Rt 1 exit allows an opportunity to re-connect with I-76 before it branches off into an exit lane, and to avoid a section of traffic, FSD decides to yeet the exit, blow by about 1/2 mile of the backup before muscling its way back onto 76. I had to mute the video because I was laughing like a psycho the entire time. So good. Mad max will get you where you’re goin man

Was FSD being sentient here? How did FSD anticipate that the truck turning right might encroach into its left-turn lane, and proactively leave enough space for it?

FSD bleeds some speed to bait the truck into passing/dances its way into the left turn lane just in time. 14.2 is a smooth operator

V14.2.1 highway regression vs 14.1. In standard mode, FSD makes a maneuver into the left lane to pass a semi truck. Because they have jailed the speed limits of non mad max profiles, FSD cannot use acceleration to make this pass. So it ends up camping the left lane. In my right side view mirror, you can see someone coming up on my ass, and FSD is not getting back over. It’s also not speeding up to pass the semi because it is in speed jail. I had to scroll mad max to get through the maneuver. Def a regression from 14.1.

FSD v14.1 yields to an ambulance using the opposite lane to bypass traffic After hearing and seeing the ambulance behind me, FSD began creeping into the adjacent right lane, but another vehicle blocked me from moving farther. FSD then paused, allowing the ambulance to pass, before continuing. I’m not sure a human driver could’ve handled this much differently — there was nowhere to go short of flooring it to get in front of the car to my right, which in my view would have felt reckless in case the ambulance needed to get into that gap. Simply creeping a bit to the right, pausing and waiting, knowing the ambulance had already committed to driving against the flow of traffic, seems like the safest move. Either way, this is a significant improvement over prior versions! Your thoughts?

🚨 One thing that has frustrated me with Tesla Full Self-Driving is that I find it will sometimes change lanes to overtake a car, but the lane it changes into either ends or goes against the navigation (for example, it will change into a straight lane when it needs to be in a turn lane) Inevitably, it has to get back over before the lane ends or to get into the correct lane, and it ends up in the same place it was initially. FSD 14.1 drives down an extremely tight alley, then forces its way into a tiny gap after a left turn. I feel like FSD made the left early to get out of the way of the pedestrians since it was blocking the sidewalk.

As requested, here is the footage. FSD 14.1.4 was taking a right out of a parking lot. There was a mail truck in the closest lane and FSD attempted to take a really wide turn around the truck and go into the far lane, but there was a minivan clearly coming in that lane. I wasn't sure which lane it was trying to get in. When it started going in front of the minivan I took over. The minivan was paying attention and braked, honked their horn, and went around me as I pulled out of their lane. I found it weird because 14 is usually way too cautious at intersections.

As requested, here is the footage. FSD 14.1.4 was taking a right out of a parking lot. Trying FSD V14.1.2 in a parking garage for the first time (Mad Max mode on). I initially wondered why it drove all the way to the top level, but there was an access point into the main building from there, so it actually successfully navigated and chose the best level to be on.

I’ve experienced something interesting tonight. FSD failed to merge into the correct lane, which was blocked by traffic delineators. Once it realized the mistake, it reversed and re-entered the property, and used the second exit to resume the planned route.
