Ghostty on macOS now copies multiple formats into the clipboard. If you paste into rich text apps now, it'll preserve formatting! If you paste plain text, that'll work too. I think Ghostty may be the only macOS terminal other than the built-in to do this. Coming soon to GTK.

Cursor position and color uniforms are now available to custom shaders in Ghostty, enabling cursor animations (and other effects). Video below is a rough demo of something simple. Can't wait to see what the custom shader community does with this. :) Docs:

really like the progress bar escape sequences. Hope tools pick up this feature soon. Easy to test with try & ai: try ghostty-progress && claude "implement a ruby script demo for the progress bar features mentioned at <release-notes-url>"

The video below compares the plain-text throughput of Ghostty to another popular macOS terminal. Note that this video only showcases one particular type of speed. There are many other ways to measure the speed of a terminal and I note that in the devlog. The video is a very real world scenario though (i.e. tailing loud log output). 👻

Claude Mobile starts the idea... Ghostty finishes it I basically use Claude Mobile as a notepad now. Whenever something comes to mind, I open the app, pick a repo, and ask Claude to start exploring. Then I just let it run while I go on with my day. Later I jump into Claude Desktop and I’m right back in the same session, with context, structure, and a clearer shape of the idea. I tweak a few things to set up the coding phase. Finally, one click to Ghostty (video), open a couple of worktrees, and start working on the PR. IMPORTANT: when you move to Ghostty, it must be the exact same repo you started on mobile, otherwise the --teleport command will fail

Ghostty now has a keybinding system powerful enough to enable a "vim mode." This is built by composing multiple Ghostty features together, meaning you can create any modes you want (emacs, tmux, whatever). We'll keep adding more bindings to make these even more powerful! The config:

Thanks to an amazing contributor, Ghostty now supports a beautiful titlebar with tabs in the titlebar. These are still fully native tabs, we surgically modify macOS's view hierarchy to make them look like this, so they retain all the macOS native behaviors you'd expect.

Command palette coming to Ghostty, implemented with native UI of course. macOS initially but GTK will follow and be part of the same tagged release, since there's already a mostly complete open PR. Almost all keybinding actions available, will be able to customize entries too.

This bugs me more than it should. This is Ghostty, but it happens to other software. Characters on the corners are cropped by the border radius of the window. I like macOS in general, but wish Apple would roll back the rounded corners a tad.
