I made a Dark Souls-inspired Three.js game with Sol Ultra using Codex Sites. It's fully playable in the browser. I handled the prompts, references, and libraries like img2threejs. The game has shield blocking, dodge rolls, archery, and a full inventory system. Still blows my mind that you can build... show more

this is not even a prototype (no single game loop finished) and it runs at <10fps. not shitting on it, just utter nonsense to claim "omg made a game in 5 hours". you can make a lot better than this in half the time without ai by just opening a tutorial project ;)

it's early for sure and i added a lot of features which affected perf. working on it. a tutorial project wouldn't have this level of details/customizations I asked.

if you started with a tutorial then added a few things with AI, you'd get far better performance and have done more been using ai daily for my game since Dec, not saying ai bad, just saying it's faaaaar shittier still than people claim. and with games specifically, it's complex

interesting. do you have a tutorial project in mind? what platform do you use? do they have for threejs games?

just use ai sir :) Eidolon runs great. Dungeon Forge I didn't try, though possibly best fit. You want a base so ai knows to follow best conventions re: rendering, etc. There are many ways to render, batch, optimize in 3D world and three.js is no different.

Do you have a github for it?

thinking about open-sourcing it.

If so are you open to community funding by any chance? I think its cool and deserved!

omg, that'd be the dream. to get funded enough to build a real game.

Bare with me, have you ever heard of @Pumpfun? Basically a community fan token made in your work ( 0 affiliation to you ), just so support you. People are open to trade the fan-token // In Exchange, all generated fees from trading will be allocated to you permanently. Let me know what you think of that.

@Pumpfun interesting, will look into it.

Have a look into it. Let me know your thought. I found you because there is a token about versperfall. I played the game and i realised this could huge. This is the token I found and someone directed fees to your github: Bare in mind, like i said before this is fan token with 0 affiliation to you!

@Pumpfun Couldnt re edit the tweet but is this your github:

I tried both fable5 and gpt sol for these threejs games. Came to the same conclusion as you -> the gpt sol games look so slow and clunky it's not even funny. I want to see your same game made in fable, I think it would be much better. Still it looks awesome! @claudeai @OpenAI

@claudeai @OpenAI For me it was the opposite. I did the same prompt in Fable 5 and it came out very primitive.

@claudeai @OpenAI Could you show it? Thats super curious to me

wow cool, did you check out world of claudecraft too? That might be the best vibecoded project ive seen so far

Oh need to check that out

yeh they also opensourced it so many devs joined since the first vibecode lol

This is absolutely insane, Meng.

how does the combat performance hold up on mobile during heavy dodge rolls

haven't tested on mobile, but you can try yourself.

did you have to manually fix the three js boilerplate or did the site generator nail it first try

not familiar with boilerplate but model was pretty basic as first, so low-poly. img2threejs helped a lot.

牛逼当构架能力被释放的时候,想象力就要开始占据舞台了,Three.js的潜力被你们玩出新高了。

died in the first minute

skill issue.

yes. How much dmg does blocking save

it uses your stamina, so depends on timing, but you can block all. in real game, there are more vars like poise, def, etc.

The part people underrate here is that Three.js hands you the renderer and almost none of the game. Shield blocking, dodge rolls and a full inventory are all systems you had to decide on yourself, and that is usually where an afternoon turns into a month. Getting all of it running with no install and no download is still the quiet superpower of shipping to the browser.

That’s crazy. I just started building a game too, but I chose to build it directly in Unity instead. Not sure if it was the best choice but I wanted to use a lot of its post processing and lighting

So they have a MCP? Would love to see the results! It’s kinda cool to use threejs though

They just announced a CLI but I’ve just used the Codex plugin together with assets from @KenneyNL - it built the whole thing. I didn’t touch anything.

I made a 90's inspired RPG from a chinese drama I loved watching but never got to play! I generated the character images with codex, then passed them to huanyuan 3d, bound the asset in blender. I also reused the amazing combat animations from all in threejs too. @appledelhi

crazy work

Tried it, very nice.

Building full 3d browser souls games in a single afternoon feels illegal now

Now I understand where Sol Ultra shines. It goes all the way down the rabbit hole.

The UI looks surprisingly good too. That’s usually the part that suffers most. How did you approach it? Any specific prompts or references?

woww love it 🙌🙌🙌

@MengTo

img2threejs is the part I want to hear about. did it hand you clean meshes or did you have to fix the geometry by hand after?

Need to test more but essentially very good at taking an image and turn into 3d model, which is hard for ai to do properly beyond primitives

that's impressive! So img2threejs handled the full conversion from 2D concept/reference images -> clean enough 3D meshes that you could mostly use them directly? Did it preserve topology decently (edge flow, reasonable poly count) or did you still need to do a fair bit of retopology/cleanup in Blender afterwards? Also curious what kind of prompt + reference setup worked best for you.

I will try building 2d games this summer for my school kids

What a game man!! Hats Off👏👏

This is really cool! What an era to be in! AI gives your superpowers!

dark souls mentioned, instant scrollback... reminds me of a more primitive and more pvp focused version of Unexplored 2 (theirs is better, of course, they're a bigger team!) what a time to be alive! are you using the $200/mo sub or can this be done with the $20/mo one without exhausting the quotas? I'm currently in the middle of doing an app and another even smaller game

If you’re using 20/m you should use medium thinking. Only use ultra for planning

makes sense to me, okay, great to know also, idk why but wasd doesn't work for me on Linux (Chromium and Brave), neither on Firefox... ESC and R are the only keys that actually work lol maybe Hyprland or idk also when right clicking on Firefox it does the "open in new tab" popup and the little joystick it made does work, considering this isn't even GPT-6 I wanted to try it out but if it's gonna consume your quota don't worry, I'll play it on my phone (also amazing thing to think about) (also, yeah, games like diep io works with brave shields off)

Nice work! I tried to make a three D dungeon crawler and I just couldn't get the models to look right. I think the issue was that I tried to make them higher poly than was possible. I ended up just making it two D like the original that I'm remastering.

would love to see it. 2d sounds fun too

I still want to make improvements, but this is what I have so far. Nowhere near as good as yours, but it's still pretty fun.

Haha awesome! Any specific skills or md files used for good design aesthetic principles in threejs?

5/ Audit your package.json lockfiles and local MCP configs before pulling fresh packages. As AI coding tools take over our workflows, supply-chain hygiene is no longer optional—it is the difference between shipping code and shipping your AWS keys.

very nice graphics

A full inventory and combat system in one afternoon is genuinely wild.

Giod job. Keep it up. Maximize the polish and find tuning.

This is awesome!

W

This seems really interesting! I'm doing a similar thing - how did you set up enemy AI? Like, did you just ask sol for "good ai"? Here's my project -

love anything dark souls. best game of all time

bro claim the fee pls and this will fly. Also you can generate more.fees when this hit to millions

A full combat kit — blocking, dodge rolls, archery, inventory — is way more than most browser demos attempt. Inventory alone is usually where these stop. Nice work.
