This is the part people don’t show enough about AI game dev on X. Behind every “Fable 5 made me a full game in one prompt” post, there’s usually a lot of bullshit. I gave AI a strong /goal: optimized Three.js grass, chunks, LOD, shader wind. It produced something. It understood part of the direction. But it still missed. That’s the real workflow. A prompt can give you a starting point. It doesn’t magically give you taste, debugging, optimization, and iteration. You can test the /goal below.

I tried this so you don't have to. I know this is going to absolutely shock you but no this does not match the performance of Mythos. A few early thoughts: 1. The limits are pretty bad. I used 100% of my 5-hour usage in less than 1 prompt. 2. I specifically gave it a threejs task because it is an area that SOTA models have made big strides in, that other models just are not great at. I asked it to build a replica of Rocket League. I'll put the prompt in the comments. The game was pretty bad and notably worse than GPT 5.5. Even after multiple fixes, it took 7-8 back and forth with Codex just to get it an almost playable condition. Prior to these fixes, the game was not playable. Maybe it's really strong in other disciplines. I'd love to test that but I hit my limit in 1 prompt lol. GPT 5.5 by contrast did a pretty good job and required no follow ups. Fable would have absolutely nailed this as well. But yeah, early impressions...not great. But I hope I'm wrong. More testing tomorrow.

🚗 Tried to make my first voxel-based game ever with bolt.new It's my first time really using Bolt, you get your regular prompt window on the left side, but any updates to your project are immediately visible on the right side as a browser I think it's much easier for non-tech people because you don't need to switch to your browser to test, and because you skip the whole deployment step, you just click Publish or say publish and it's up as a site My game here is inspired by Teardown, that game that's built up by voxel blocks where you can destroy everything, it's somehow so satisfying to destroy every wall and object But I wanted to do it as a race game, but then I thought why not make it like demolition derby where the goal is to crash into each other? And parts of your car fly off etc. So 🚗 Voxel Derby was born It took a bit to get everything right and you still have to direct it to get what you want, like the engine sound was quite basic and then I told it "okay add gears" and then suddenly it sounded realistic, that kind of stuff But it actually built a performant voxel-based game pretty easily, I'm impressed Tomorrow I'll try add multiplayer just with Bolt, no idea if it can do, it'd have to spin up some server for that but we'll see if it works 😊
