I shot 62 — 10 under par — playing a modified scramble called a FIGJAM. The rules are simple: if you like your first shot, play it. If it’s so-so, hit another. You can hit up to 3 shots total, but once you choose to move on, that’s your... ball. Padraig Harrington has said he’d play this format as often as he could, and Luke Donald used it on his way to becoming #1 in the world. What surprised me wasn’t the 62. It was what the format did to my confidence. I was playing a new course but instead of getting defensive after a mediocre shot, I had the freedom to try again. Pretty soon I was seeing shots more clearly, committing to them and expecting good results. And here’s the interesting part: a lot of my first shots were perfectly good. How is it possible that this swing can shoot around even par on a golf course I've never played or even seen before? Here's just a few god awful looking swings of mine due to the fact my back was in pain every shot... (lower back seized up) You know what I learned from playing golf crippled... I learned that you don't actually need to do much to play good golf & hit the golf ball where you want I was swinging the club no faster than 95mph (If I was lucky), I did however hit it pretty damn straight most of the time, got up & down a lot, & holed a few putts I wasn't trying to stop early extension. I wasn't trying to "drop it in the slot". I wasn't trying to "get open at impact (I couldn't). All I tried to do was swing my arms & control where the face was at impact I played better golf than 99% of golfers on the planet & I had no speed + a crippled lower back I think we need to ask ourselves what is truely required to play good golf. It actually doesn't take that much...

Bob MacIntyre was given a conduct warning by the rules officials today the same as Jon Rahm earlier this week. He reacted to it after the round and said he would have deserved a two shot penalty if he was given one: “Yeah, yeah, but I expect to get a few of them in my career. Yeah, I run hot. Yeah, maybe the format was a set back in the past, but at the same time there’s a lot of positives to it as well. And one of the things that a lot of players kept mentioning is you don’t have a wave weather difference, where you can simply get unlucky and you’re out of contention for that tournament. It’s part of the game, I get it, but it’s something you don’t have to deal with anymore. So that part is a very nice aspect. The team is what really made it for me. Being able to be part of a team, represent a team, play for my teammates, with my teammates and against my teammates, is something that to me that has always been very, very special. When you get a victory to share, it’s always better to have a team to share it with. So it’s what was the most attractive part and when we started discussions it gets to a point where even though I’m ambitious, I’m not greedy. So there’s a give and take and the format is something that I can easily overlook, and I’m pretty sure I can learn to enjoy it, I’ll just have to get used to it, but I’m pretty sure I’ll learn to enjoy it. Scottie Scheffler was asked ahead of the Travelers Championship how he feels about the impact it’s had on the game: “Yeah, I think it's great for golf to become more mainstream. A lot of you complaining about shooting in 2k25 dont understand how the shooting actually works and are just calling it bad so let me break it down real quick The shooting itself is pretty EASY, if you cant green your first few shots you're just mistiming and need to learn your timing or get better, for example you can green your first 2 jumpshots very easily. NOW LETS GET TO THE PROBLEM. But after say for example you make 2 shots in a row, MOST OF THE TIME 2k will give you NO GREEN WINDOW at all on the next shot, leaving it completely up to RNG (random) whether your next shot will go in (will most likely miss). So essentially 2k is punishing you for greening multiple shots in a row by forcing you to eventually miss your next shot most of the time. In this clip in a ranked 1v1 match, my opponent greens 2 shots in a row then i confidently leave him WIDE OPEN for the 3rd shot knowing that he will 100% MISS because of the algorithm and he does...then i do the exact same thing again after he makes 2 more shots in a row, i leave him WIDE OPEN for his 3rd shot knowing he will miss again and he does indeed miss... You should not be PUNISHED for timing your jumpshot correctly by being given no green window after you make a sequence of shots, THAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH THE SHOOTING...it is not hard to time your shot in general, the issue is after you make a few shots, you're given NO GREEN WINDOW, which is leaving it up to RNG which should not be a thing. And if there's any brainrot kids who can't understand me saying that the shooting is easy but then also saying that the way they made the algorithm to make you miss is bad, i am specifically talking about the times where it gives you no green window after making a few shots, which is not on every single shot... 2k needs to revert this because it should not be impossible to make specific jumpshots, especially after making a few shots you think you would be rewarded and it would be easier to make the next ones correct? Well they made it harder instead.

A lot of you complaining about shooting in 2k25 dont understand how the shooting actually works and are just calling it bad so let me break it down real quick The shooting itself is pretty EASY, if you cant green your first few shots you're just mistiming and need to learn your timing or get better, for example you can green your first 2 jumpshots very easily. NOW LETS GET TO THE PROBLEM. But after say for example you make 2 shots in a row, MOST OF THE TIME 2k will give you NO GREEN WINDOW at all on the next shot, leaving it completely up to RNG (random) whether your next shot will go in (will most likely miss). So essentially 2k is punishing you for greening multiple shots in a row by forcing you to eventually miss your next shot most of the time. In this clip in a ranked 1v1 match, my opponent greens 2 shots in a row then i confidently leave him WIDE OPEN for the 3rd shot knowing that he will 100% MISS because of the algorithm and he does...then i do the exact same thing again after he makes 2 more shots in a row, i leave him WIDE OPEN for his 3rd shot knowing he will miss again and he does indeed miss... I Won My US Open Local Q today I shot 66 today to win the US Open Local qualifying out of 132 players. My two goals today were 1) to have no expectations. I haven’t been able to play as much as I’d like, so I told myself repeatedly today to have no expectations. We can only become frustrated with ourselves if we place expectations on outcomes. 2) do not be a puppet to results. I just accepted every shot that was hit and was not going to get emotional about results. I truly did not care if I hit a bad shot if I had a good process. And yes I hit numerous poor shots. However, if I had a good decade target, stuck to my routine, and committed to the shot then I was able to accept any result that occurred. Maybe there’s something to learn in there. 1 step away from the US Open.

Took a walk around Lakewood CC this past wknd for the first time since December to see how the course held up through the winter. Everything looks good. We are ready for some spring sun and warmth to begin the growth season. A big question I get is what was done to the Great Hazard on #6 which is now #15. It was completely redone. Moved about 15-20 yds forward so a lay up is a shorter shot. The left side was opened up and fairway expanded to allow for a bail out if you don’t take on the entire span. The hazard itself was sunken down about 3 ft to allow you to see it from the tee and fairway. It was also expanded diagonally to the right as that side is where you want to come in from on your third shot but you better make sure you can clear the top right of it. The last pic compliments of J. Liebert Golf Pics is the before version. I’d say the new version is pretty darn good.
