Don't underestimate the role Trossard plays in unlocking Eze left half-space tendencies. Trossard goes deep a lot to handle deep duties, so Eze can stay high. And with Hincapié overlapping for width and Trossard vacating the left half-space, that becomes Eze's area to occupy. Trossard deep in left/central midfield, Eze high in the left half-space to attack. That's how you get the goal vs Leverkusen.

Flick the RS in the direction you want Levi de Weerd shows a perfect example here of how to attack space with the directional run here. His opponent reacts well by tracking the run but he also holds R1 to 2nd man press the ball, leaving space in behind the CB, where Levi will flick the RS for the winger to take that space inside. First time through ball with Vitinha and it’s an easy 1v1 with the GK. This also work really well when you trigger a central player like a ST or CAM to make a diagonal run into space out wide.
