"If we're focused on our processes, we're gonna look up in a couple weeks and say, 'Damn, man, I like where we are.'" Focus on the systems and habits that lead to excellence, not just the end result. That's how it works. Trust the process, stack the days, and the results show up. Then he warned them about what's coming: "We're gonna be told how great we are a lot going forward." "But just know all that stuff is distracting from what we need to do and that's get better and continue figuring some things out." Praise is a distraction if you let it be. It's going to feel good, but it's going to pull you away from the work. The best teams don't get caught up in the noise - good or bad. They block out the distractions. Focus on the process. One thing I like about Delap is that he’s a shithouse. He’ll walk on the pitch thinking he’s the best player out there every game, and that he’ll bully defenders. I still prefer us to sign Mateta/Gyokeres/Osimhen instead, but I’m not mad at this signing.

Thats the key to these games in my opinion.” I have had the privilege of working with Jim Schlossnagle since April 2006. His commitment to the mental game has been consistent and intentional every step of the way. A good reminder: The results you are getting are PERFECT for the process you have in place. Jim Schlossnagle and his Texas A&M Baseball team have identified a process to stay consistent, play one pitch at a time and focus on the controllables. The separator? They have stayed committed to their process. It is one thing to identify a process... It's another thing to execute it on a day-to-day basis regardless of what is happening. He mentions that the first thing they do at Texas A&M Baseball, at the start of fall is review the mental game and emphasize routines and the importance of playing one pitch at a time. "Mental skills are something we practice. We invest a lot of time, effort, and money into mental skills. Mental skills can be practiced just like physical skills can be practiced." Success leaves clues. Good luck to the Texas A&M Baseball as they take on the Tennessee Baseball in Game 2 of the College World Series final today. #OnePitchWarriors

This is from today's #WCWS game. This was ruled a base hit when it happened (you can see the 'H' pop up), but was changed to a missed catch error by the first baseman at the bottom of the fourth. This is an impossible catch for the first baseman with a ball thrown from that angle, that hard. This throw has to be to the glove, and while it's not a wild throw, it's low enough that the first baseman cannot get her glove around it in time. This is where replay gets you in trouble. The slo-mo replay makes it look like it's a catchable ball, but it isn't. In real time, at live speed, this isn't an error. This isn't a missed catch or a drop. I was loving the call of a single, especially because it was the first hit, and then, when it was changed, it felt like it was to protect a no-hitter. Everything about this screams "above ordinary effort" ... I would have left this as a single.
