There are 470 in China. We've already won the AI war. My grandfather was a computer science major at Florida Atlantic University about 30 minutes south of here in Boca. And he would tell you that in the 1970s and 80s, computers were the size of Costco warehouses and now those same computers fit in our pocket. Why are we building an AI data center that in five years is going to be obsolete, is going to be one one hundredth of the size. And so I fear it's because a lot of the big land developers want to buy up cheap land, flip it for the next AI data center. So it's a greedy thing. It's a greed thing. And I don't want that to happen in our state because you know what? If you buy something and you screw up, you can return it. You could sell it. If you pave over citrus groves or the Everglades or a wetlands to build the data center, you cannot easily undo that. And so I don't want our farmers, I don't want our rural towns to be run roughshod over. My opponent, Byron Donalds, will say, well, what about the AI data center? Don't they have property rights? We need the data centers. We have to win the AI race. My guest for episode 5 of Counterweight is Manhattan Institute's Judge Glock. This spring he wrote about Loudoun County, VA in City Journal. Loudoun, one of the richest counties in America, with a median household income of around $170,000, has become the unlikely center of a new data center-based industrial revolution. And it's not just Loudoun. Data center construction is up about twenty times nationwide in three years, leading to an enormous political backlash. New York State imposed a moratorium on data center construction, and even Republican Greg Abbott of Texas has put a temporary pause in place. Meanwhile, speaking for myself, I’ve seen a ton of fear-mongering about them, with very little in the way of clear explanation of what the costs and benefits are and what they mean for the localities that might bring them in. I've brought Judge on to walk through in granular detail how data centers work, how Loudoun County became ground zero for the data center boom, and the recent pushback against data centers. We also talk about the unfortunate habit that AI CEOs have of seeming like the gloomiest people in the world in relation to the products they are trying to sell.

During an interview at the Hoover Institution on 15 Nov 2023, Elbridge Colby and Dan Blumenthal explain why the United States has become obsessed with containing China and curtailing its economic development. In a nutshell, a prosperous China would deprive the US of its global economic control as well as the ability to rewrite rules and to rob other countries. For the US, it's a zero-sum game in which America's imperial empire mentality is projected onto China, and every other nation is subservient to America's national interests. This perspective essentially disregards the advantages of a collaborative and multipolar global order. According to Colby and Blumenthal, the US would be locked out of "economic arrangements" inside East Asia which have the potential to boom and to be the center of future global economic activity. The US military would be reduced to defending the North American Hemisphere and would be locked out of East Asia, but the US would really need access to East Asia to secure itself (economically), or else Americans would be poorer as a prosperous China would re-orient the world towards Asia. China would have the best Universities, its companies would be world's best, its treasury would be able to enforce sanctions against everyone else, its stock exchange would be the world's best, its currency would supplant the USD - which means we Americans will become a lot poorer. As America would be forced to play ball, in the same way that today many companies and other countries are forced to play ball with US sanctions even tough they don't want to. That would mean Americans will become lot poorer as our companies, institutions would be no longer the top ones, and then we become less free as America would loose its global economic control When asked if the US can accept that a great rich China dominates its own region vs dominating the planet, their conclusion is that the US can't live with either scenario because East Asia is just so fundamentally important to US national security

The Starlink V3 communication satellite is an incredibly complex machine. The AI data center would be much simpler by comparison, because it's really just solar power plus radiator basic equipment for operating satellite, and then the laser links, which would connect to the Starlink communications constellation and then back to the ground the connection would happen no matter what the weather is because once you connect to the Starlink communication constellation the Starlink communicates the ground with frequencies that are cloud penetrating, so that in fact even roof penetrating some degree, so you would always be able to close link with the data centers."

China is building AI the way a serious country builds a power grid and a highway system, with a national plan, state-backed data centers, hundreds of billions of dollars invested to make computing power a public utility and a focus on locking in home-grown chips. Here in the US, these same facilities that will decide who leads the next economy and who has the stronger military are being stalled town by town with moratoriums and “your electric bill is the data center’s fault” messaging, while Chinese state media and China-aligned activist networks cheer every day. This is becoming a very destructive pattern for the United States. America debates itself into paralysis while our adversaries treat AI infrastructure as destiny. I do agree that local communities deserve answers about the questions they have regarding their electric and water costs as it pertains to data centers in their zip code, but whoever is supposed to be messaging on this issue is failing to convey why the US *needs* data centers. TO BEAT CHINA is one good reason, and probably the best reason. Allowing radical left activists and foreign-amplified and foreign funded panic to freeze U.S. compute while Beijing builds at national scale is surrender in the AI race. I made this video back in January based on the research I was doing last year to tell everyone that all Nuclear Powered AI Data Centers would be coming, and that they would all roll into a "Queen Bee" along with Global Satellite Connections, a Global "Cloud" of interconnected Cloud Servers, AI, Cryptocurrency, and more. The "Queen Bee" is shaping up to just be Palantir. I believe that once all of these systems are integrated and operating as desired, that will be the "Third Temple".
