I use a lot of alembic since ue4 in realtime.. Obviously need to be careful at the 'mesh resolution'.. that say it could be interesting in ue5 to have nanite support for alembic.

For a high res liquid mesh like this it's cinematics only. It does run in real-time in the viewport but is very resource heavy.

The liquid test with foam I just posted today runs at ~25fps. I don’t really pay attention to anything else.
