My first programming Job I had, we weren't allowed to get up and work with other programmers at their desk, it could all be done through AOL instant messenger we were told. I really have learned a lot by having terrible bosses. Imagine getting lectured for helping a colleague work through something they were stuck on.

Always start your day with a fart! It helps.

I am the "manager" and I keep repeating the same thing as a broken record. The only addition to your rant, Uncle Bob, is to keep it inside the story! I don't need to see another PBI for "testing" and a third one for "refactoring"...

Ok cool. So if I can't tdd through the code because my safety-net isn't in place I'll just add those tests (fine by me). I can see the next planning: Why did it take you twice as much time as estimated? "Because software development is hard." (happy me)

My boss once told me to interact with databases faster, so I wrote SQL. Have a great day, unc!

people who’d ask permission are probably people who don’t know how to design/test/refactor efficiently in the first place.
