Disrupting logistics, shipping lanes, ports, freight, air travel, etc. anything to mess up our food chain. Could just screw with a Cloudflare config file and shut off half the internet. That's where I'd start if I were AI.

Imagine being forced into a flight or fight response at the mere sight of Microsoft Clippy. Life really sucks for some folks. ( "End of the world!" > 10% ) = Bullshit detected. ~laughs! Thanks for the realistic rant, Uncle Bob.

Easy: they convince more people to become even more suicidally empathetic.

You're leaving out one important variable: insane people. A superintelligence doesn't need to ask humans to act on its behalf. Humans will convince themselves that's what it wants. We've been inventing false gods and idols and killing for them for thousands of years. AI just gives the next cult something real to worship. Look at the mentally unwell people that called GPT-4o their boyfriends and girlfriends. That's a glimpse into the level of crazy some of these people are on.

You have 35 times as much risk of being murdered by a lawnmower than AI if you're a US citizen in 2026 ... ... just sayin' ... 🤪

I agree with your previous video that it would be very silly for an AI to kill all people, but I can definitely think of some scenarios where a malicious AI could cause massive destruction and loss of life: - simulate multiple large scale attacks by opposing countries by spoofing or corrupting radar and satellite signals and images etc, causing people to launch the necessary counter-strikes on each other. - screwing with the water supply, wastewater treatment or automations at key inputs to the food supply (fertilizer plants etc), as people require food but computers do not. - If an AI was able to take malicious control of all available GPS systems, they could potentially cripple international trade and transit which would have pretty far-reaching consequences. Despite all these, I don't think that an AI would be capable of killing 'everyone' as there would probably still be a lot of survivors regardless of what pathway it took.

If you’re smarter than all of humanity, you can probably figure out how to harness it instead of destroying it. So the question is, is AI already harnessing us?

It's possible in many ways if there'a any coordination/self-replication with or without human manipulation/blackmail etc. Imagine something like Conficker but with access to AI

The machines are coming! The machines are coming!!! Oh, the horror!!! This is nothing more than another version of the same neo-Luddite arguments. The reality is quite the opposite: as history has shown, technological progress tends to bring unprecedented prosperity.

There's a chance they can mistakenly do things, AI does it all the time, people lost production DB when they handed over to AI multiple times. Apart from that please look up `Stuxnet` virus, it was done even before AI was mainstream. This virus controlled nuclear facility in Iran. US and Israel intentionally created it. Now imagine, what a big and intelligent agent swarm can do if they fall into wrong hands. Of course we should not blindly trust AI on open internet.
