Your mitochondria are like tiny batteries in your cells. When the battery runs well, it produces ATP (energy). Energy powers everything your brain cells do—storing memories, processing thoughts, and communicating with each other. When the battery runs poorly, it leaks “acid” or reactive oxygen species (ROS). ROS triggers inflammation, causing brain cells to stop communicating, malfunction, and die—resulting in dementia over time. Red light (660-900nm wavelengths) acts like a switch that turns on mitochondrial efficiency so it produces more energy and allow your cells to get the energy it needs. When placed around the head, the light goes straight through bone into the brain's cortex, energizing the mitochondria where they're needed most.
