Alignment trouble looks like a setup problem. Often it's a perception problem. A right-handed, right-eye dominant player often has more difficulty aligning to the target than a cross-dominant player. If alignment is an issue, here are two of our favorite strategies that Dr. Rose introduces in our advanced Golf curriculum. 1) Move the reference spot behind the ball: Instead of picking a reference spot in front of the ball, pick a spot behind the ball on the target line and walk in looking at that. Draw the line from the ball through the spot, square yourself to it, then walk into the shot. This keeps both eyes working together the whole time. The best drivers that we’ve evaluated tend to have their lead hip higher at setup while keeping more weight on their trail side. This orientation helps facilitate a more positive angle of attack with the driver versus a descending blow with an iron.

A simple action that I think is going to continue to pop up more and more? Get - Keep I love Gets because of their ability to accomplish a lot of the same things you want your ball screen to do. The thing that is fantastic about them, however, is their keep-ability. If the defense plays at the level, or switches, or in any way gives you space to attack... the Keep option is LETHAL. Great potential action for younger team too!

When a golfer repeats the same drill or shot over and over (blocked practice), it often feels more comfortable and successful, but that’s often just the illusion of learning. While there is absolutely a place for blocked practice in every golfers prep, to truly prepare for the course, we need to mix things up. Random practice - changing clubs, targets, or shot shapes every rep - challenges your brain and body the way golf actually demands. It may feel harder, but that’s exactly why it works. After all, it’s hard to survive in the jungle if all you know is the zoo.

A golfer’s ability to use the ground effectively is critical for maintaining dynamic posture and avoiding swing characteristics like early extension. In order to prevent the pelvis from moving closer to the target line on the downswing, golfers must push aggressively against the ground with their lead leg, both down (vertical force) and away (anterior-posterior force). One of our favorite strategies for helping a golfer develop a feel of creating these forces is a series of medical ball throws. By cueing athletes to focus on the timing and direction of their ground reaction forces, we can teach them to “use their legs to drive their arms” and avoid thrusting towards the ball. Optimizing ground reaction forces in the golf swing isn’t just about HOW HARD a golfer pushes against the ground, but HOW they push (timing and direction). One of the key kinetic variables we consider in a force analysis is called anterior-posterior force (or heel-toe force). Think of a golfer pushing frictionally against the ground, towards the target line with their lead leg and away from the target line with their trail leg. AP force is not only a meaningful contributor to clubhead speed, it also has a strong relationship to early extension. In order to prevent the pelvis from moving closer to the target line on the downswing, the lead leg needs to push considerably harder than the trail leg to drive the hip back (we often see over 2X AP force on the lead side vs the trail side in elite ball-strikers). As Newton outlines in his 3rd law, “for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.” In the case of this PGA TOUR player, the trail leg was pushing equal to the lead leg, resulting in him early extending.

When we saw Wyndham Clark in 2025, he was sliding excessively towards the target on the downswing with his irons. One of our favorite drills for helping golfers eliminate slide is lead leg only swings. By removing the trail leg, the golfer is forced to stabilize and rotate over their lead side rather than slide past it. Any excess lateral movement is amplified immediately, so the body starts to learn to post up and turn around a firm front side. The payoff is a more stable low point and more consistent contact with the irons.

It's a 2 hander, but the dominant arm is not straight like they teach Now, it is bent and held clutched up to her body...Serena same thing,but Serena keeps a slight more distance. They used to teach a ball is in the arm pit as distance. Today it's arm straight and knees and torso whips it thru.. Most of the power comes from the shoulders and the front foot, but you can see she is doing a side Turn VS the new method which is the arm straight.And knees bent down lower... Interesting..past era to today's. Also the serve is not abbreviated which is taught now.

I see SO MANY golfers NOT doing this with the club face when hitting bunker shots... Do not be afraid to open that face at setup Obviously not every shot requires the face to be open as much as this, but 95% of the time, when I'm helping a golfer in the bunker, they need the face way more open at setup If you start with the face square, you do run the risk of digging the leading edge into the sand which could make it difficult to get the ball out with any height Open it up folks 👊

If the boat turns “away” from the skier, the skier accelerates. If the boat turns towards the skier, it creates slack in the rope and the skier slows down. Here’s a nice drill to help your OL from popping up in their pass set that we love to use at 5AS1 OL Training. Put a medball under their down hand. They must “roll” the ball along with them along the angle of their sets, but they must keep it inline with their shoulder. You’ll find that if the athlete is rising in their set, the ball will lag behind or not move at all. OR if the athlete is opening up that shoulder, the ball will continue to roll outside of their frame. Remember this will not look perfect! This video is the athletes first time, and there are lots of things to clean up. The important thing is that the athlete feels what it’s like to move horizontally without “bounding” or “popping up”.
