You could… …work really hard, go to med school, get a load of debt and earn £28k Or be a dedicated specialist nurse and work hard to get to AFC Band 7 after a decade of experience Or fail to get into medical school and take a 2 year PA course to start on AFC Band 8 - with no debt, no experience and double the income of the doctor who has to supervise your prescribing Political and corrupt

Did you not manage to find any actual junior doctors to appear in this?

can I contribute to the video about Locally Employed Doctors, International Medical Graduates- how we should work to ensure they have supervision, support and the vital role they play in the NHS? Hope that's in planning phase. 🙂

This is propaganda, pure and simple. PAs are overpaid. Taking training opportunities from doctors in training. They are being used as less trained doctors. Doctors are being artificially suppressed with training bottlenecks to bloat the SHO level. It's disgusting.

Can anyone in your organisation share the health economics of PAs (especially how we are using them in the NHS)?

The relentless expansion of PAs is causing patients serious harm. The health system is being flooded with professionals with less training, skills and expertise. Patients do not know the difference between doctors and PAs. We must immediately pause recruitment of PAs.

Can you explain why a physician associate with only 2 years of training earns more than £40k starting salary, versus junior doctor 5 or 6 years training earns around £29k. PAs have to be supervised by doctors as they can’t sign off prescriptions.

Any evidence for the “enhanced care” patients get? There is a role for PAs. Would that role exist had the gvmt adequately funded workforce expansion? In a word no. Do individual PAs deserve a pile on. No. Should we be able to voice our concerns? Yes.
