A strong Pacific Jet will blast mild air across the nation over the next week. Temps will once again jump to 30°+F above normal - a “blowtorch” pattern through next weekend. But we are in a very changeable/ transient pattern, with both a strong Pacific jet and also strong high-latitude blocking. The combo of these two players means, strong shifts - a week to week see-saw pattern. Not just changeable, but volatile, herky-jerky weather whiplash. There is NO END IN SIGHT to this brutally Cold pattern, with multiple waves of Arctic air likely to continue pouring into the U.S. well into mid-December. The Polar Jet Stream will keep diving south again and again, dragging down round after round of frigid Canadian air. This is the kind of cold we normally see in the heart of January - seeing it this early is highly unusual. Temperatures will run 10, 20, even 30 degrees below normal, and some locations may drop below zero for a prolonged stretch. Wind chills will be even worse. Bottom line: ⬇️ The cold isn’t going anywhere. Bundle up… it’s going to be a long, frigid stretch. 🥶

It’s quiet - now - as we head into peak season, but that may change soon. The Atlantic has been under large scale sinking, crushing tropical development. But rising air from the Pacific is rounding the bend, and heading into the Atlantic in the coming weeks. That will cause favorable conditions for hurricanes to develop especially by mid September, but there’s a wave moving off Africa right now with a good chance of development later this week/weekend. The hope is that strong cold fronts in the US will block these Atlantic storms from reaching the US. Stay tuned. (Hurricane pictured is merely an illustration, not a real storm) #fyp # hurricane

Where will #Erin track? It’s being steered by an elongated, but not very strong, ridge of high pressure. By the weekend that ridge will break, allowing for a weakness / escape alley to develop. The question is: how far north will Erin be and will it be able to take early enough advantage of it, to miss the Eastern Seaboard? Odds are yes. But the latest guidance is not as clear cut. The latest models have shifted significantly southwest, opening the door to a closer call. Stay tuned!

So, my opinion on what the Antarctic (Antarctica) Anomaly is that it's a type of frequency technology. It must be way more powerful than HAARP, as many have claimed it to be, because we would see these anomalies at other HAARP sites, and we don't, not like this. With that said, and I'm very much trying to avoid letting what I want it to be not play a part here, I think it is a technology that is being used either off the coast of Antarctica itself or Bouvet Island. A third possibility is an area just to the northwest of the island that looks odd. It's possible it is a sonar scan from a ship, but why in that remote location? It looks like an antenna set up or rows of something that is out of place. I also believe that the weather events and fires that have taken place in Africa could possibly have been because of this. Each time we saw the anomaly, it was followed by a destructive weather event in Africa. A weird connection to that is we have been told and warned of a very busy 2024 Atlantic hurricane season. This is in part because of the above-average Atlantic ocean temperatures, which is the fuel to Hurricanes. With all this info, it's possible to see how the Anomaly could be a frequency tech that can manipulate or create weather, And or WARM up the Ocean temps to purposely enhance the Hurricane season and Storm growth. Keep in mind that many of our hurricanes and many of the biggest hurricanes have come from the west coast of Africa and form over the Cape Verde islands before heading towards the Caribbean and the United States. This is all of course speculation, and I'm learning many new things every day, so this idea may morph over time as we learn more. One thing we are watching now is potential ERC (eyewall replacement cycle) beginning. Pressure / wind may have temporarily peaked. Some of the hurricane models have suggested multiple eyewall replacement cycles through Tuesday. For tonight, it is possible this eyewall replacement is quick then we see another dip even stronger overnight with lower pressure and even higher winds. These eyewall replacement cycles will have impacts on how the storm comes into FL Wednesday night. Eventually these should grow the eye and core with time. If the cycles are finished before it hits the wind shear, that could make it a little more resilient to the wind shear. A smaller eye and core probably gets bothered more by the dry air intrusion/wind shear that should be meeting up with #Milton late Wednesday off the Tampa coast. So, these cycles are important in the eventual core structure as it nears the coast late WED.

This is arguably one of the most complex steering scenarios in recent memory!! Two hurricanes(?), a stalled cut-off upper low, and a deep Greenland cold pool diving south. How all these factors interact with each other is driving the models (and meteorologists lol) up the wall!! Will soon to be #Imelda be pulled into the Carolina coast by the cut-off low as many solutions show? Or will #Hurricane #Humberto drag Imelda gradually out to sea, as Humberto gets dragged north by the large Greenland jet stream trough? Only time will tell, but folks from FL’s northeast coast to the Carolina’s especially should stay weather aware. More obviously Imelda will impact the Bahamas this weekend-early next week and Bermuda needs to watch #Humberto. In all this, a #Fujiwhara pivot is possible! WFLA NEWS

No, your eyes are not deceiving you! Next week's cold blast is going to be “near” historic in #Florida for early November. The models are very aggressive and if they are right we may tie or break records set ~100 years ago. These are wind chills for Tuesday morning BUT it is not out of the question that North FL will see actual low temps near freezing next Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. Fire up the fireplaces! You don't have one? You have a week to get it :)

GFS still maintaining a winter storm icy scenario. Despite the EURO northern turn GFS hasn’t really changed. NWSAtlanta in their briefing this afternoon said models really struggle with the Arctic systems and overrunning. They stated that even 24 hours out it is difficult to predict precip types and locations. Throw in the Cold Air Damming we get in N Georgia and that makes it even harder to predict. We still have a Winter Storm Watch out for the entire Tristate area I cover and that watch could even be expanded southward NWS is saying. The hurricane hunters are doing sampling missions for NWS and that data will be entered into the models. Any additional support we can get will help. The upper air soundings just aren’t as good over western Canada and some parts of the USA. Therefore model initialization happens at different starting points for each set. Hopefully get some kind of agreement that zeroes in better. I would like to see a warmer solution especially if ice is the main problem. We have lots of cold air coming after the storm and anything that is on the ground or roads will not go away fast. Very COLD air is coming. #gawx

No changes to morning update on severe weather chances, but the system is finally showing its hand and round 1 looks to head decently south of the #Chicago metro area. That pushes the all-important warm frontal boundary well into central IL Question remains how far north that front pushes back today, but odds are decreasing it can reach or breach the magical I-80 weather wall. Midday to early afternoon trends still need to be closely monitored, but personally (this is just me speaking) wouldn’t be surprised to see that moderate risk over half the metro area slide south on the next update What does remain is a rainy day and the flooding threat hangs on as we sit on the cool side where all this moisture aloft will get wrung out. ‼️ In house Hi Res Model escalates this weekend. GRAF Indicates #Bertha by early week as the storm drifts west away from Florida into the #Gulf. This model is very good, but I emphasize this is an incredibly tough forecast, and it may be wrong. I find it tends to spin things up too fast, and we are not yet in the GRAF wheelhouse of inside 48 hours. I only post this because it’s 3 days from now and as we go into the weekend I don’t want folks sleeping on this, and I want to be transparent with ya’ll. It’s nothing to be concerned about, just something to be aware off. Right now NHC development chance is at 30%. Otherwise on/ off downpours through the weekend.

Winter Weather Advisory ⚠️ for Lake Cook Dupage and Will counties and south from there from 6PM Saturday to 6PM Sunday If it was just system #snow giving us a glancing blow from the expansive southern storm dumping every type of weather from #Chicago to the gulf coast, an easy forecast of 1”-4” north to south would be on the table But dance with the devil we must as Lake Michigan sits poised to be either a reluctant dance partner or the lead tango dancer in the snow show Forecasts range from 2”-9” in the city. 2” means no lake impact, 9” means we get a long duration lake feed I’m leaning toward the latter, as entrenched cold air, mid and low level wind convergence over the lake, a lengthy North-Northeast wind fetch and still open mid lake surface water should be enough to loft even a little moisture 2-3 miles upward to feast on an excellent snowflake growth zone that will feed into the immediate Chicago shore areas and add another 3”-5” to the system snow. Another tricky point is the ratio of liquid to snowfall. Usually we see a 10 to 1 mix. 0.1” liquid=1” snow. This cold air here will double that to 20 to 1 so even an extra 1/4 inch of liquid would be 5” of snow (0.25x20=5.0) to add in And by immediate shore areas I could see Midway getting double what O’Hare gets. Like Cicero Ave and east being a cutoff Here’s the model variance. Snow would start to trickle in about sunset Saturday and just hang out thru much of Sunday into the afternoon.

"Explosion in Kharkiv" or something along those lines is the most frequent post I make. I've probably made a thousand of them by now, if not more. Air raid alerts are so frequent here that I usually don't even post about them. They can last for days, and the citizens of Kharkiv are forced to disregard them. Or we can have twelve of them in a day, and we will also be forced to disregard them. I often see online how central or western Ukraine complains about the alerts, and oh, how much I would give to have an actual solid warning about an attack like them. But "explosions in Kharkiv" always arrive unexpectedly. How surreal it is that we are forced to live like this. How horrific it is that thousands of bombs, missiles, and drones fall on a major city in Europe daily, and all the major press and political figures just pretend it doesn't happen. Because if they admit that it happens and they just watch it year after year, then what kind of people are they? Do they care at all?

The steering forecast for #imelda is complex to say the least. A direct hit of a #hurricane in the Carolina’s remains a real possibilty early week. Thats because a weak upper level low stalls and attempts to capture (soon to be Imelda) as it moves out of the #Bahamas. The key here is speed and it’s what separates the different model solutions. The models that are faster with Imelda show a landfall. But the slower members are just slow enough to allow the influence of #Humberto, and by association, the deep trough/ jet stream over New England, to “tug” Imelda out to sea at the 11th hour. Lots of balls in the air and certainly some fascinating science. Florida appears to be shielded from Direct impacts, but the Bahamas will have a direct hit of a tropical storm or low-end hurricane. Be prepared!
