Ripped the Arcturus Vision video previews from their camera app so I could convert them to MV-HEVC and watch on Vision Pro They embed the camera/head motion data directly in the metadata so I can stabilize the videos You can REALLY tell they’re HDR. Popping colors and 3D depth

Impressive. And even before we shipped the Sync app that can do MV-HEVC. Glad you could find the metadata, we agonized over the format. The website has a decent HDR demo which pops for those with HDR displays.

Thank you! I cant express enough how much value I feel you all are bringing to Steam Frame with even just this one attachment.. and the software alongside it Really happy to see what lies ahead for Arcturus 🥹

These available to download anywhere?

On my discord in the abandoned-mines channel

Just had a chance to view these and, dang, I hope these clips are super compressed. Side by side with some vision pro recordings the bitrate looks super low. Don't think they've published the aperture of these lenses but maybe they're just worse in low light?

Out of curiosity, does the videos in this link look any better than the ones extracted from the compressed zips?

The frame's screens are not HDR though right? So it won't be able to view them?

It won’t be able to view them in full 10 bit HDR, ya

Shame :(

@SadlyItsBradley HDR is best experienced on OLED panels which the Steam Frame doesn't have.

@SadlyItsBradley Yeah it's a shame the captures can't be viewed to their full potential on the device the module is made for

Can the Frame playback MV-HEVC in software? I know the Apple M silicon can all decode in hardware.

Nice

head pose gets logged into the metadata at capture, so stabilization runs on recorded motion. the previews are the demo. the metadata is the artifact.

How long before someone gets the Frame controllers working with the AVP?

That’s awesome. It feels like Valve has already done the ground work here for a microOLED higher res core module in the future. Just like SteamDeck getting a refresh in a few years, I hope Frame does well they are compelled to make another model eventually.

This is getting me curious as to how it compares to actual consumer cameras. Like if you prop up the frame+arcturus vision on a tripod somehow what kind of filming quality would you get
