Stone Canyon Fire Update: Fire Incident Commander Nathan Hallam reported that the Stone Canyon Fire is at 1,553 acres with 30% containment along the east and southeast corner as of 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 1. Crews continue to work on securing the fire perimeter.

#UPDATE: CSFD Fire Investigators responded on Monday to the Marksheffel Rd. Fire and have determined that the cause of this fire was accidental likely due to dragging chains from a vehicle. As of Monday, March 11th at 1:30 pm the fire is at 640 acres with 90% containment. One CSFD brush truck will remain at the fire scene to patrol for hotspots. Fire crews are confident that the containment line will hold. The CSFD would like to extend its gratitude to the regional agencies who quickly responded to assist with fighting this fire and thank them for their continued partnership. 🎥: CSFD Special Operations Unit Drone

Arizona: The Dragon Bravo Fire is now 116,592 acres with 12% containment. Critical Fire weather has returned to the fire area with relative humidities dropping to 10% and 35 MPH winds. Crews are working on the North edge to keep the fire from flanking around the Kane Fire burn scar from 2023. On the southwest they are hoping to see reduced spread due to the 2003 Poplar Fire burn scar. The biggest threat of the fire jumping the containment lines is on the northern edge, crews remain vigilant and are strengthening the lines in that area and quickly respond if the fire spots across the line. Thanks to the subscriber who shared this view of the fire.

The Governor of Arizona toured the Dragon Bravo Fire this weekend to asses the damage of the Grand Canyon Park’s North Rim infrastructure. There are now 848 personnel assigned to the fire which has grown to 12,645 acres. Crews continue to mitigate spot fires that crossed the Grand Canyon Highway and mitigate hazards around park structures that were destroyed. You can see in this video the extent of the damage to the Grand Canyon lodge, a National designated landmark. Heavy equipment and firefighters are also building contingency lines to add robust containment lines around the fire. Thanks to the subscriber who shared this view of Fire activity at night, and the aftermath of the Lodge.

VCFD along with LA County Fire and CAL FIRE are on scene of a brush fire south of the 126 FWY, east of Piru. The fire is currently reported at 50 acres with a moderate rate of spread in medium fuels and located in steep terrain with difficult access. Firefighters are aggressively working from the air and ground to attack the fire. Multiple fixed wing aircraft and helicopters are assigned to the incident along with over 100 firefighters assigned to the incident. Evacuation warnings have been issued for areas east of Lake Piru to the Los Angeles County line. Residents are encouraged to follow for the latest updates on evacuations.

🚨 Tucson Fire was dispatched to a dumpster fire at 1750 North Sabino Canyon Road at 6:09 this evening. Engine 9 arrived five minutes later and reported heavy, black smoke in the area and discovered a large fuel tank on fire near a private landfill. The call was updated to a HAZMAT response and nearby Udall Park was evacuated as a precaution due to the location of the fire. Crews faced challenges extinguishing this fire because of the location and nearby electrical equipment. The fire was called under control at 7:49 and crews were able to contain damage to the area. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

An incredible view of firing Ops on the Iron Fire in Utah. Crews continue to build containment and completed a burn the western flank yesterday, but fire weather and winds continue to be problematic. Fire managers and crews continue to asses direct and indirect options moving forward. Additional firing ops took place last night on the eastern flanks, working to tie it in just north of Highway 6. Extreme fire weather is expected in the coming days, and contingency plans are also being worked on in case it jumps the highway. The fire is now 37,170 acres and 17% contained. The Cottonwood Fire has been updated to 61,137 acres, and resources continue to work towards containment, and are busy constructing firelines. 🎥: At 6:34 p.m., Omaha Fire was called to 7524 Poppleton Plaza for a row of garages that were on fire. Crews had a large smoke header while approaching the scene. Firefighters went to work and worked to knock down the fire. No immediate injuries were reported. Fire investigators will be on scene to determine the cause.

Air resources are working along the west flank of the fire per incident command. The fire remains static in its original footprint with no anticipated growth. Today, firefighters continue patrolling and reinforcing containment lines as well as addressing deep seated smoldering brush piles well inside the perimeter. Resources from VCFD and Ventura City Fire include Type 3 and Type 6 engines, a hand crew, water tender and one of our UAS / Drone pilots. Firefighters will remain on scene until this fire is fully contained. An IR flight of the fire by one of our UAS / Drone pilots shows the pockets of heat firefighters are working to address. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
