Stride Stop 101: The Secret Move That Transforms Your Paint Game During Jay Wright’s tenure, Villanova was known for their ability to play off 2 feet in the paint. It was a separator for them. But what exactly does play off 2 feet mean? It could mean a number... of different things. When it comes to playing off 2, one of your best options is the stride stop. Unfortunately, it’s one of the more challenging footworks to teach. While jump stops come naturally to most players, stride stops can be difficult to learn. Many players get frustrated and never master this move. As a result, they limit themselves when they get to the paint. Make sure that’s not the case for you and your players! What Exactly Is a Stride Stop? Unlock This Key Finishing Move What is a stride stop? Like a jump stop, a stride stop is a 2 foot stop. Unlike a jump stop, your feet don’t hit at the same time. Instead, your outside foot hits first. The stride stop is useful in a couple driving situations: -When a help defender comes across to take a charge. -When the on ball defender is physically on the inside shoulder. Coach Matt Lewis teaches the stride stop as a key element of The Flow Motion Offense.show more

LB Long Stride-Short Side Drill - The drill builds upon a box angle tackle progression but incorporates a long stride and short stride aspect to it. - Coaches should deepen the depth between the linebacker and the ball carrier for this specific drill. - Players usually utilize crossover footwork to run and close the distance to the ball carrier. - Players must use a long stride to close space, and then transition to a short stride to throttle their feet, widen their base, and get under control. - A critical coaching point is to keep the inside foot up rather than back, which prevents the ball carrier from cutting back and breaking the cup. - Coaches can incorporate a drop progression element into the drill, acting as the quarterback to get the linebacker set up before they come out of their break. This is a great example of stopping 1-2 (inside foot first) when shooting off the dribble It’s an efficient way to quickly stop and get to your pull up while simulating a drive to the rim - getting the defender leaning

Track the inside hip. He did it. Long stride, short stride, shoulders square. Clinic tape. But he misses the tackle. Coming from depth or forcing the ball there are 2 acceptable outcomes. Make the tackle or get him to stop his feet and turn him to your help. Neither one starts at the inside hip. Brian Branch on almost the same play shows you how it's done.

STOP ON TWO FEET. It's not a suggestion. Watch how many "good" players in your gym can't do this simple thing. They catch it moving. They land on one foot, then the other, off balance, travel waiting to happen — and nobody says a word because the ball still went in. Here's the truth nobody tells your kid: the jump stop is a skill, not an accident. Two feet, same time, under control, ready to pivot either direction, ready to shoot, pass, or go. That's not footwork for footwork's sake — that's the difference between a player who's in control of the game and a player the game is happening to. Most kids never get taught this. They get taught to score. Nobody teaches them how to stop. This is what we work on. Not because it looks good on a highlight reel — it won't. Because it's the stuff that separates players who last from players who flash and disappear. Two feet. Every time. No exceptions. That's Basketball IQ. That's the work. #BasketballIQ #PGCBasketball #Fundamentals #JumpStop #PlayerDevelopment #StopOnTwoFeet #FootworkFirst

When a coach says "get your knees up," they don't mean physically pulling them to your chest. They just mean stop letting them point at the ground. Watch the breakdown to see how high knees drills actually build the hip flexor strength you need to keep your stride efficient and drive hard when your legs are tired at the finish line. 🏁 What's your go-to cue when you start losing form?

This father had to go in the street to stop cars from passing a STOPPED school bus with extended stop signs so his daughter could get off the bus! Sad that people have to do this to get people to stop. Sometimes the law can vary by states but it is pretty standard. Seems more and more people aren’t paying attention or simply do not know the law when it comes to stopping for school buses. A few seconds or maybe a minute is worth it to keep our children safe. Do you know the law in your state when it comes to stopping for school buses at a stop with their stop signs extended ?

A common hitting flaw that is rarely corrected and can exposes certain hitters at higher levels, is “leaking” … the player’s front side is “running away” from contact prematurely. Sometimes also called “spinning off” the ball. This means energy is escaping the swing because of a chain of events that usually begins with the incorrect action of the stride foot. Correctly engaging the stride foot into the ground, called “foot-plant,” allows the body to efficiently sequence. As a result, the swing is shorter and barrel stays in the hitting zone longer. The BIG key is we have to be able to ***control our front knee*** before starting to swing. If a hitter can control their front knee and their front side a hair longer, stay behind contact, and attack the inside of the ball, it creates more whip.…(bat speed) and improves plate coverage. You might need to watch the video a couple times, because there are various ways to stride that allow the hitter to control their front knee. It is not a one size fits all action. And hitters who have sick power and want to pull the ball intentionally might actually “leak and clear” on purpose. But players who like to stay to middle of the field, might want to see what the initial movement into foot plant looks like. **** Remember, what happens to the front foot (stride foot) AFTER contact has little consequence. Often heavy torque causes it to fly open, or roll on side of foot. That’s all ok.

Make Your Finishing “Pop” With This Drill Million dollar move. Ten cent finish. It doesn’t matter if you’re a player or coach. Getting to the rim and being unable to convert is frustrating! One primary cause of poor finishing is bad balance. Too many players go into traffic and finish wildly off 1 foot. Or, even if they jump off 2 feet, they are still off balance. In the Flow Motion Offense Video bonus section on skill development, Coach Matt Lewis solves this problem with the “Pop” Finishing Drill. This drill is great for players of all ages. The ability to finish under control and on balance is vital for youth as well as experienced players. Add it to your training routine and become the best finisher on the floor.

I was leaving a parking lot and witnessed this. 🤔 The car in front of me stops at the line, and FSD of course stops behind them. But when the person in front me goes, FSD doesn't come to a full stop again. Is this a rolling stop or the system didn't know to stop again?

This drill doesn’t make you faster or a better skater If anything it’s okay in doses for conditioning purposes. The reality is resistance bands on the ice when used for “training” end up shortening your stride and decreases your technique. The best skaters, have the best glide and most efficient recovery back to the middle supplemented with power built off the ice. This is 1980’s style thinking. Let me know if you want to become a better skater Gavin, my uncle Marc is still the best in the business teaching the basics of improving a stride. -Coach Swish

When was the last time you took a second to stop (even just for a minute) and create a vision for your life, instead of just reacting to life as it comes at you?

Introducing Trailing Stoploss on Kite web. A regular stop loss stays fixed at the price you set. This works when you enter a trade, but it can become a problem if the trade moves in your favour. Say you buy a stock at ₹100 and set a stop loss at ₹90. The stock then moves to ₹140, but your stop loss remains at ₹90. If the price reverses, you could give back a large part of the move. The obvious solution is to keep moving the stop loss higher manually. But once the trade is live, it is easy to delay the decision, second-guess the move, or miss the price action altogether. With trailing stoploss, this adjustment happens automatically. The stop-loss trigger moves as the trade moves in your direction and stays unchanged when the price moves against you. Here's all you need to know👇

The Zedan Racing Stables, Inc Boyd is looking incredible right now 🥵 His stride even lengthened to a 24+ feet late in his work after easily rifling off 5 furlongs. This is one classy animal; his ability to retain his stride integrity for long intervals of time is very impressive. 🚀

Instead of constantly telling players to “play off two”… Build an environment that requires it. This 2 on 1 drill has one simple constraint: Get to two feet in the paint, then solve the problem against a help-side defender.

In football, the best way to beat a defender isn't to outrun them—it’s to make them commit. The most dangerous players in the world don't just move the ball; they move the defender. A world-class body feint is a masterclass in physics and human psychology. Here is why the "drop of the shoulder" is the most effective tool in a winger’s arsenal: 1. The Low Center of Gravity 📉 A feint begins in the knees, not the feet. By dropping your hips and leaning into a fake direction, you force the defender to mirror your center of gravity. If you go low, they go low. * The Goal: Get them to plant their feet. A planted defender is a stationary defender. 2. Selling the "False Step" 👟 The best feints aren't just a lean; they involve a hard step with the lead foot. This triggers a "threat response" in the defender. They see the weight transfer and instinctively shift their entire mass to cover the lane. * The Physics: Once a defender’s weight is on their heels or shifted to one side, they are trapped by their own inertia. 3. The "Snap" Back ⚡ The feint is only half the job. The magic happens in the acceleration phase. The moment the defender bites, you push off the "fake" foot and explode into the open space. * The Timing: You don't wait for them to stop; you move the instant you see their hips turn. 🧠 The Competitive Edge In football—and in business—predictability is a weakness. If you always take the most linear path, you’re easy to mark. The "body feint" is a reminder that sometimes you have to move one way to go the other. It’s about creating space where there was none by manipulating the expectations of your competition. How do you create space when the pressure is on? #FootballStrategy #PlayerDevelopment #SoccerSkills #PerformancePsychology #Agility #1v1
