Really excited to finally release FPOM! 🥳 It's a Parallax Occlusion Mapping shader I made with the goal of having an alternative for Nanite Displacement that looks good for a fraction of the cost. It's direction aware, meaning it follows the UVs direction even if they are scaled, flipped or rotated. It Works with Landscape, Mesh Terrain, Meshes and Decals. Check it out on Fab! #gamedev Unreal Engine

Unreal Dev tries to use included Metahumans (comes with engine) to create beautiful female, fails. Has to upload her own mesh. (see end of video for the default vs what she made...night and day). Did some poking and compare default female to male bodies. You cannot change the bodies aside from the 3 types, but you can upload your own mesh.

On October 9th, we spoke with Gian Paolo Vernocchi, CEO and Creative Director of DESTINYbit on how Unreal Engine 5 helped to deliver an innovative tactical RPG in NITRO GEN OMEGA. The game presents a “spaghetti anime” art style and blends turn-based gameplay with the feeling of directing an episode of an anime. Check it out:

Always been annoyed that nanite displacement is relative to the scale of the mesh, so I fixed it! The scene has a world aligned material where the displacement is static regardless of mesh scale. This engine change allows me to have different scales on the meshes without any issues. The meshes are then blended with MeshBlend to make it look like one surface. Cobblestone is always a favorite for testing displacement 😄 #gamedev Unreal Engine

Jolan Huijskes explored the custom Blender and Unreal Engine 5 tools he developed for large-scale game environments, using them to build a fully playable world inspired by Saros. "This fan art project is an exploration of how environment art tools can be used to create large-scale levels for games with maximum control for Level Artists. I focused on tool development, composition, and art direction. In this article, I will explore how and why I developed these tools for my fan art project: Blender Fracture Generation (a tool to be released for free soon), Unreal Engine Array Tool, Unreal Engine Fracturing Tool, Unreal Engine PCG Scattering with Artist Control."
