On Thursday. 2nd May, 2025 at about 2.30a.m, the men from the Lagos State Environmental Taskforce team embarked on its clean up enforcement operation at Ikeja and its environs to rid the State of criminal elements. The areas visited during the operation includes; LASUTH under-bridge, Ikeja under-bridge, Ipodo Street and other adjoining areas within Ikeja where the presence of some undesirable elements was noticed. During the raid exercise, one of the miscreants arrested and locked in Taskforce vehicle, stole monies belonging to another Suspect in the vehicle. Lagos State Environmental and Special Offenses Taskforce have commenced enforcement against banned Okada operation, one-way traffic violations, and removal of shanties erected along Lagos -Calabar coastal highway corridor. Over 50 motorcycles were confiscated for riding on the highway in violation of the Lagos State traffic law, while 10 vehicles were apprehended and charged to court for driving against traffic. The operation is part of our sustained efforts to restore order, safety, and cleanliness across public spaces in Lagos. The team observed the entire road, along Akowonjo by Cele busstop has been converted to beer parlor, drug peddling at different level taking place and presence of criminal elements. During the clean up operation, the team ensured the entire area was completely cleared of violation of the State environmental laws and ward off criminal activities. All chairs and tables and other items spread all over the road, preventing free flow of traffic were all seized. Thirty-eight miscreants were arrested for soliciting alms and causing traffic disruptions along the Lekki–Epe Expressway. In addition, one Mafus Azeez, aged 15, was apprehended along the Lekki–Epe Expressway for aggressively soliciting alms by displaying bank account details and operating a POS device on the road. This individual is known for repeatedly engaging in this activity despite previous warnings. Following discreet surveillance exercises carried out across black spots in the metropolis, the Lagos State Environmental Taskforce today, raided some locations including the notorious 31 Road junction, Bless Jah Street, Adenle Crescent, Owo Omo Osho Street all in Gowon Estate and a part of Okunola road in Mosan-Okunola LCDA in Alimosho LGA. The sting operation led to the arrest of 53 suspected dealers and users of illicit substances who have turned the entire area to a safe haven for illicit drugs activities. Following discreet surveillance exercises carried out across black spots in the metropolis, the Lagos State Environmental Taskforce today, raided some locations including the notorious 31 Road junction, Bless Jah Street, Adenle Crescent, Owo Omo Osho Street all in Gowon Estate and a part of Okunola road in Mosan-Okunola LCDA in Alimosho LGA. The sting operation led to the arrest of 53 suspected dealers and users of illicit substances who have turned the entire area to a safe haven for illicit drugs activities.
