On Thursday. 2nd May, 2025 at about 2.30a.m, the men from the Lagos State Environmental Taskforce team embarked on its clean up enforcement operation at Ikeja and its environs to rid the State of criminal elements. The areas visited during the operation includes; LASUTH under-bridge, Ikeja under-bridge, Ipodo Street and other adjoining areas within Ikeja where the presence of some undesirable elements was noticed. During the raid exercise, one of the miscreants arrested and locked in Taskforce vehicle, stole monies belonging to another Suspect in the vehicle. Lagos State Environmental and Special Offenses Taskforce have commenced enforcement against banned Okada operation, one-way traffic violations, and removal of shanties erected along Lagos -Calabar coastal highway corridor. Over 50 motorcycles were confiscated for riding on the highway in violation of the Lagos State traffic law, while 10 vehicles were apprehended and charged to court for driving against traffic. The team observed the entire road, along Akowonjo by Cele busstop has been converted to beer parlor, drug peddling at different level taking place and presence of criminal elements. During the clean up operation, the team ensured the entire area was completely cleared of violation of the State environmental laws and ward off criminal activities. All chairs and tables and other items spread all over the road, preventing free flow of traffic were all seized. In addition, one Mafus Azeez, aged 15, was apprehended along the Lekki–Epe Expressway for aggressively soliciting alms by displaying bank account details and operating a POS device on the road. This individual is known for repeatedly engaging in this activity despite previous warnings. Following discreet surveillance exercises carried out across black spots in the metropolis, the Lagos State Environmental Taskforce today, raided some locations including the notorious 31 Road junction, Bless Jah Street, Adenle Crescent, Owo Omo Osho Street all in Gowon Estate and a part of Okunola road in Mosan-Okunola LCDA in Alimosho LGA. The sting operation led to the arrest of 53 suspected dealers and users of illicit substances who have turned the entire area to a safe haven for illicit drugs activities. A significant quantity of different illicit drugs, including Colorado, substance suspected to be Kanedian Loud Hemp, Tramadol Capsules, Codeine Syrups, several Illicit substances Weighing Scales, packs of Indian jemp crushers, knives, amongst others were recovered from the suspects. Following discreet surveillance exercises carried out across black spots in the metropolis, the Lagos State Environmental Taskforce today, raided some locations including the notorious 31 Road junction, Bless Jah Street, Adenle Crescent, Owo Omo Osho Street all in Gowon Estate and a part of Okunola road in Mosan-Okunola LCDA in Alimosho LGA. The sting operation led to the arrest of 53 suspected dealers and users of illicit substances who have turned the entire area to a safe haven for illicit drugs activities. A significant quantity of different illicit drugs, including Colorado, substance suspected to be Kanedian Loud Hemp, Tramadol Capsules, Codeine Syrups, several Illicit substances Weighing Scales, packs of Indian jemp crushers, knives, amongst others were recovered from the suspects. All suspects will be charged to court accordingly. #ZeroToleranceLagos

In continuation of the Lagos State Taskforce clean-up enforcement operations and its commitment to rid the State of criminal elements and street urchins popularly known as Omotaku, who terrorise Lagos motorists and force them to part with their hard-earned money, especially whenever their vehicles develop mechanical faults on the road. The Chairman of the Agency, CSP Adetayo Akerele, said that the Taskforce has taken the bull by the horns and risen to the challenge by suppressing the activities of Omotaku across the Lagos metropolis. Akerele revealed in the last one week, from Thursday through the weekend up to press time today, Wednesday, 14th January, 2026, the Agency has effected arrest of several Omotaku during its sustained enforcement. The areas covered during the week-long operations included Bourdillon, Lekki Phase 1, Ikoyi, Lekki–Ajah Expressway, Animashahun busstop, Akowonjo road, Egbeda, Fadeyi busstop, Costain, Funsho Williams Avenue, Victoria Island, Apongbon, Jibowu, Yaba Phase 1, Lagos Island Palmgrove, Ojuelegba road ,Surulere and other adjoining roads on both Island and Mainland where the presence of undesirable elements popularly known as Omotaku and other street urchins was observed. In the course of the week, a total of 281 suspects were arrested, and all suspects have since been arraigned in court. The Chairman stated that Omotaku would soon become a thing of the past in few days. Akerele admonished Lagosians, particularly motorists, to promptly reach out to the Lagos State Taskforce whenever Omotaku or other street urchins constitute a nuisance within their vicinity, and to call 09137555111 or 09138555111 for swift response.
