These are underfill layers! They are a solid color layer underneath another color layer, but they are slightly bigger, making it look like the outline of the layer above. This method will make it easier for riggers to give the model more range, as the underfill is easy to adjust

I used this for the body skin layers only. All other layers dont have underfill. The body needs the most angles and physic parameters for my rigs, so having underfill makes it a million times easier for me to get wide and smooth angles compared to normal layers!

I will release a free PSD study for live2d artists on how to set up these layers on body skin parts soon! Feel free to send those to your live2d artists if you are a client looking to commission a model as well! your rigger will absolutely LOVE YOU ✨

heres an example video by cillia that breaks down the different layers! Ive seen her talk about underfill for a while but only just had a chance to try it out for myself and its a game changer! 🥰

@_suiika_ OOOOOO So it basically mimics the line work layer by being slightly bigger then the base skin layer. So you wouldn't have your linework attached to the body parts itself? I think I got that right? I'm about to start learning Live2D so I am living for this tutorial. Thank you! <3

yes, exactly! you will still need some lineworks, but the underfill will take care of all of the main outline! good luck on learning! its worth it in the end :3

@_suiika_ We love when experienced artist and riggers don’t gatekeep knowledge!! Thank you so much for this I have 3 models I’m working on and this would be nice practice

@_suiika_ when the art has these + a third “texture” layer thats wider that both so it can get clipped to the solid color layer then rotated when the body moves 🤌

Jensen Huang told a room of global investors that AI is not one industry. It is five stacked on top of each other. Most people are investing in layer four and ignoring layers one through three entirely. He called it the five-layer cake. Layer one is energy. Jensen said this is the single greatest opportunity for the energy industry in a hundred years. The first time in a century that the grid in most countries can actually attract serious capital. Nuclear, solar, wind, hydrogen, it does not matter what form. If it produces energy, it gets funded. Siemens, GE Vernova, Mitsubishi. That is why they are all doing so well right now. Layer two is chips, computers, networking, and silicon photonics. Everything that processes the intelligence. Layer three is infrastructure. Land, power, buildings, data center operations. Every single one in short supply today. Layer four is the model layer. OpenAI, Anthropic. The layer everyone talks about. Layer five is applications. Every startup applying AI to financial services, legal, healthcare, logistics, transportation. Last year alone, a hundred billion dollars of venture capital went into this layer. The single largest VC year in the history of humanity. Then he said the number that stopped me cold. We are putting one trillion dollars into this five-layer cake this year. That sounds enormous. Jensen thinks the AI industry will eventually run at twenty trillion dollars per year. We are one trillion in of a twenty trillion dollar per year ecosystem. Most people watching AI are staring at layer four. Jensen was describing layers one through five as a single compounding system where every layer feeds the one above it. The people who understand that will invest differently than the people who do not.

FIVE LAYERS OF AGENT ENGINEERING, EACH ONE WRAPS THE ONE BELOW IT. IF YOU SKIP LAYER 2, YOUR LAYER 5 WILL LOOK BROKEN WHEN IT IS ACTUALLY JUST STANDING ON NOTHING. for weeks i debated harness vs loop vs graph like they were competing choices. then a stack diagram made the shape obvious. they are not choices. they are floors. 01 | prompt engineering. the message. unit of work: one input. inputs are role, instructions, examples, format. output is a single raw response. 02 | context engineering. the memory. unit of work: what stays in the window. a curator selects, compresses, and drops from query, docs, memory, prior turns, and tool outputs before the prompt runs. 03 | harness engineering. the machine. unit of work: the machine itself. gather (context + prompt) → LLM → tools or sub-agents → verifier → final response. the article calls this the operating environment. 04 | loop engineering. the system. unit of work: the run. goal + success criteria + max iterations + budget + completion check wrap around one harness pass. failed pass appends results to context and retries. 05 | graph engineering. the topology. unit of work: the graph run. goal + nodes + edges + state schema. graph routes to agent nodes, tool nodes, or human approval. a reviewer node with a different model and fresh context checks the final answer. the wrapping is the whole point. layer 5 assumes layer 4 works. layer 4 assumes layer 3 works. skip layer 2 and layer 3's verifier keeps failing without a clear reason. this is why swapping the model is a one-day project and swapping the stack is a quarter. the model is the commodity. the five layers around it are the engineering. full three-layer breakdown of the top of the stack (harness, loop, graph) in the post below.

🎓Learn how to create a powerful Dynamic Embers smart material in a matter of seconds, in my latest video series (AAA) Pro Tips! This smart material can be used on virtually any 3D asset. ___________________________________________________ In this video, the steps are as follows: 1. Create a fill layer to then apply the base maps for our asset into it. 2. Bake out the world space, AO, Curvature, and Position maps. These maps will be crucial for the smart material to function. Also, be sure to add an emissive channel to the project. 3. Next, create another fill layer labeled (Fire animation gradient) with a black mask and inside the mask apply a paint layer. Select the paint layer and paint a simple pill shape using a soft brush. Add an anchorpoint to the mask and disable all channels in this fill layer. 4. Create a folder labeled (embers smart material) and set it to pass through. Add a paint layer inside this folder and set it to pass through as well followed by an anchorpoint. 5. Create another fill layer and apply the paint layers anchorpoint information into its color channel. From here an HSL filter should be added to desaturate and darken the colors. 6. Next, create an additional fill layer with an orange-colored emissive channel. Add a black mask to this fill layer and inside its mask apply a dirt generator. This will give us the illusion of the embers glowing from inside the charred tree. Duplicate this fill layer and tweak its emissive color to a yellowish hue and reduce its mask amount. Do this a second time but with a white-colored emissive channel. This will now create an effect of the embers appearing brighter the deeper they are inside the tree. 7. Lastly, add these layers into a folder with a black mask and apply the (Fire Animation Gradient) anchorpoint into its mask via a fill layer. Now we have a charred embers effect wherever we paint using the paint layer created inside the gradient mask! This gradient mask can also be exported into Unreal engine to create some stunning real-time dynamic animations or the new material can simply be used for in-engine vertex painting. ____________________________________________________ More AAA Game Dev Tips can be found on my YouTube channel here: Stay tuned for more weekly Tips!
