This is a good example of Tesla’s active safety feature. Tesla driver didn’t see a jaywalker due to lighting until getting real close, leaving him no time to respond. Fortunately, Tesla safety system detected & then intervened by driving around to avoid hitting the pedestrian.

AP was not e engaged but Tesla’ s active safety feature pulled the vehicle to the right a bit to avoid hitting the kid. Owner said he was in panic mode & didn’t steer away. The Tesla was traveling at 50 km/h & there was little time & distance for AEB to kick in. If it did, it would be a fatal accident.

NEWS: Tesla's fleet has now driven 12 billion miles on Full Self-Driving The count passed 12 billion this week, just a month after hitting 11 billion on June 9. About 4.5 billion of those miles were on city streets. The pace is speeding up fast. The fleet now adds around 30 million miles a day, up from 14 million a day at the start of the year. Each new billion is arriving quicker than the last. Why this number matters. Elon Musk has said Tesla needs roughly 10 billion miles of real driving data to make self-driving safe enough to run unsupervised. The fleet is now well past that and the data trains the system to handle rare, tricky situations. Tesla's own safety report says cars on FSD have one major crash every 5.3 million miles, versus one every 660,000 for the average US driver. FSD is still a supervised system. If you have a Tesla, you should be using Tesla FSD. Every day I see owners driving around manually for no reason. Let the car do all your driving! It will seriously change your life. Tesla FSD is now the product, and the vehicles are just the delivery system. If you haven’t tried it yet, I highly suggest going to a Tesla showroom and experiencing the "magic" for yourself. It’s so hard to describe.

Requesting to please prioritize improvements in this scenario Tesla AI Yun-Ta Tsai. This is a safety issue. At this intersection it happens every time. FSD waits until the absolute last second to merge away from the ending lane leaving almost zero room to safely merge when there was visibly more room to start merging sooner. See side repeater view.

NHTSA says Cybercab has no permanently attached steering wheel, brake pedal, accelerator pedal or mirrors. It will review how Tesla certified the vehicle and why Tesla determined that some federal safety standards did not apply. NHTSA is auditing a car because it has no controls for a human driver. But that is the entire point: Cybercab was designed from day one to drive itself. • Tesla Robotaxis have driven one million miles without a human driver. • The first 380,000 driverless miles had no notable safety incidents. • Tesla reported three incidents in NHTSA’s latest data. In all three, another vehicle hit a stopped Tesla Robotaxi. In these incidents, the problem was human error, not the autonomous Tesla.
