BOOMI MY NEW GROK DEVICE! I HAVE Grok ON AN OLD APPLE WATCH MADE IN TO A RETRO IPOD! Still working on it but my goal to have a remote single purpose Grok device has been achieved! With the benefits of posting my grifter slop on to X from this device also (that is another article). And a minimal phone. So how did I do it? First I got this IPod converter kit: it is a beautiful device to hold made of Aluminum. Second I got this app: “Ask Watch AI” it has a free version. Third I got my XAI Grok API Key: Toss a few bucks in the account to fund it. Finally I set up the system by answering questions. This is my first run. I am coding an app for the Apple Watch that will be easier than pressing “done”. I will write a full article on it as soon as I get it done. My goal is to use the cell plan on this Apple Watch and to have a minimal phone and Grok device. Soon these devices will be sent to Starlink. With full Grok Bot and Grok Build. No need for an OS or an App. Obviously this is an Apple Watch but soon it will be a device like this of course with a camera too.

timelapse #83 (22 hrs): - it was very easy to dive super deep into anything i needed to (this is what i focused on today because not all days are like this) - finding the grok code fast 1 + grok 4 for deep thinking and verification combo to be super useful in cursor. speed was solid - hard to imagine myself spending many more mental clock cycles in a 24 hr period - had to pull out qwen3-next’s gated deltanet + linear attention from bleeding edge hf transformers to begin implementing a multi-gpu fp8 trainer from scratch. this is so damn bleeding edge and i underestimated how much effort this has and will require lol - lots of diet coke and oats - shipped the template which the core chapters of my book will be built on: - all im missing now is flash attention 1/2 mastery (fa2 tmrw), intuition on making topk faster (for arbitrary row length), what i should and shouldnt teach in cutlass/cute, hopper/blackwell gemm kernel mastery (down to fp4) — shoutout to Pranjal for making this easier for me. his blog post is amazing - caught up w/ Mati Roy - im feeling great mentally but not so good physically as im writing this and about to pass out

The scariest part of getting laid off wasn’t losing the paycheck. It was realizing I didn’t want to go back to engineering. I’d been a software engineer for six years when it ended. I kept opening Figma instead of my code editor. At some point, I had to be honest with myself. A year later, I have: - clients I love - a YouTube channel that brings in work - a wedding app I’m designing and building myself - projects I get to work on with my husband Chris None of this was in the plan when I got that layoff email, so cheers to the first year of many❤️

timelapse #160 (13.5 hrs) - grok 4.5 high in grok build was my main for today. just getting a vibe check. it understands my intent really well and never messed anything up. i do prefer to stay in the loop with it more than claude though. SpaceXAI really cooked! - not sure what it was, but i was able to stay in flow state with grok build for hours and hours. my memory and retention helped me get a lot done - exhausted 4th claude max 20x plan in 48 hours - training dspark drafters on my traces (kept gpu warm the whole time) - did grok 4.5 high sweeps and was quite impressed at how far the model has come. its around gpt 5.5 level (official post coming) - some very important meetings - contract work - optimizing amd kernels for glm 5.2 fp8 (mostly custom all-reduce whilst avoid deadlocks) for the tiny corp - one shotted and ran all frontier models on a new benchmark which ill be revealing shortly. its the toughest benchmark ive ever made. fable doesnt even come close to beating it - had grok 4.5 take over my minecraft C/CUDA implementation. felt like whack a mole but maybe i just wasnt using it right

I got to try Grok 4.5 in early access in Cursor for the past few days and I absolutely enjoyed it. It feels like Opus 4.8 at 2x the speed at a much cheaper price point. I tasked it to brainstorm > plan > implement a big feature for my game (this act 1 boss fight) and it did not disappoint. - It is much smarter than Composer 2.5, during planning mode, it is able to think through my request more robustly, ensuring that edge cases are covered and makes sure to ask the right questions to confirm with me first. - It is much better at brainstorming ideas/suggestions, similar to Opus 4.8, though I think Fable still edges out a little when it comes to brainstorming ideas and suggestions - It is FAST. probably the fastest of all frontier models (Opus 4.8, GPT 5.5 etc), which makes it a joy to build with, because I can stay in the flow - It has much improved visual/animation capabilities than Composer 2.5, it can code up animations (i wanted an explosion animation with particle effects) with much, much better visuals, animation movement and timing. This is a big leap and I was so happy to see this improvement. - The best part for me is that I can just use the same model from planning down to execution without switching to a lower cost model because the price point is cheaper than other frontier models. I'll be testing this model with more challenging tasks in the next few days but I think this is going to be my main driver for vibe coding for a while. Also, its nice to see Grok back in the race. 🙌

I just compared Claude Code vs Codex vs Cursor CLI The task was to build a Next.js app with Tailwind 4 and shadcn components to collect customer feedback and showcase it with a widget. I gave all three the same prompt and let them go for 30 minutes to see what they came up with. Claude Code with Opus 4.1 Even though I told it to set up the app in the existing project folder, it tried to create a directory for it. After I interrupted and told it not to do that, it built a demo form and landing page with no errors. I had to ask it to make the demo interactive so users could submit a testimonial and preview it. The landing page looked like AI and was pretty basic, but it worked and it was done in a fraction of the time of the others. Total tokens used: 33k Codex with GPT-5 At the end of the 30 minutes I just could not get Codex to produce a working app. It got stuck in a loop of not being able to set up Tailwind 4 and despite many, MANY, attempts, I ended up with a "failed to compile" error. Total tokens used: 102k Cursor Agent with GPT-5 This was the slowest agent by far and a couple of times I actually thought it got stuck in a loop and was close to Ctrl+C'ing to cancel it. The TUI is really nice though, especially how it shows diffs and it did eventually build a working app (after one or two slight errors that needed fixing) The demo was interactive and it had a very minimal design that looked bare but also a lot less like an "AI generated" app than the Opus 4.1 design. It also wasn't too chatty and just did what it needed to do! Code quality was on a par with Opus 4.1, but it did use 5.5x as many tokens to get there. Still cheaper than Opus on a direct comparison but not when you factor in a Claude Code Max subscription. Total tokens: 188k I'll be able to do a proper comparison and record some videos when I'm back from holiday but for now, Opus is still the more capable model out of the box and Claude Code is the more complete CLI product. It will be interesting to see how Cursor evolve their CLI though with commands and subagents because I think with GPT-5 they have a real shot at providing competition for Claude Code if they can optimise output to get similar quality with less tokens. If any other auto company shipped what Tesla just put in my Cyberbeast this morning, it would be a MAJOR launch event, like with a stage set up, a 40-minute presentation with people flying in around the world to see how amazing this technology is. Tesla on the other hand just sent it to my truck overnight with an over-the-air software update. I downloaded FSD (Supervised) v14.3.8 this morning and made Grok do all of this while my Cyberbeast drove itself. Watch the video, if you think I’m lying. I had Grok: 1/ add a destination 2/ add a second stop 3/ start FSD (just had to press a button) 4/ turn my AC to 68 5/ turn the seat coolers on medium 6/ then change the seat cooler to high 7/ play a song 8/ change to a different song 9/ open the glovebox (had to enter my pin) 10/ close the glovebox 11/ tell me the weather 12/ play Elon’s song 13/ change my destination to San Francisco mid-drive 14/ pick a Supercharger bc I was almost out of battery ALL with my hands and feet off the steering wheel and pedals… Here’s exactly how it went. I said hey Grok, take me to the Pruneridge Golf Club closest to me, then the Starbucks near there. It set both. I started FSD with a press of a button. Then I just kept talking to it. It was kind of hot in my Cybertruck, so I asked Grok to set the temperature to 68 and cool. Done. Then I said put the seat coolers on medium… it turned it on. Then I said change the seat coolers to high… it bumped it up. I said to play a song from Future… it put a song on Spotify that wasn’t what I was looking for. So I changed it. I said to play a song from Lil Baby. That was the one. Then I asked Grok to open my glovebox. It wouldn’t do it until I put my PIN in on the screen, which I actually respect for safety. I typed in my PIN… it opened it. Then I said close the glovebox… it closed. I asked what the weather was… it said it was sunny in Santa Clara, high 85, low 64. Then I said play Don’t Doubt ur Vibe, I think that’s Elon… it pulled up Don’t Doubt ur Vibe by Elon “EDM” Musk on Spotify. Halfway there I changed my mind on where I wanted to go. I said actually take me to San Francisco first and that I might have to stop at a Supercharger bc I’m almost out of battery. Grok looked at my truck sitting at 14% battery life with 38 miles of range. And knowing San Francisco is 39 miles away it found a Tesla supercharger for me to charge along the way. I said thanks Grok. And the wildest part is I didn’t buy anything new! I went to sleep with one Cyberbeast and woke up with a more capable one. That’s why I think people still underestimate what happens when Tesla combines FSD, Grok, its vehicles, and over-the-air software into one system. That car sitting in your driveway doesn’t stay the same car. It keeps gaining new abilities. It keeps getting smarter. If any other auto company shipped what Tesla just put in my Cyberbeast this morning, it would be a MAJOR launch event, like with a stage set up, a 40-minute presentation with people flying in around the world to see how amazing this technology is. Tesla on the other hand just sent it to my truck overnight with an over-the-air software update. I downloaded FSD (Supervised) v14.3.8 this morning and made Grok do all of this while my Cyberbeast drove itself. Watch the video, if you think I’m lying. I had Grok: 1/ add a destination 2/ add a second stop 3/ start FSD (just had to press a button) 4/ turn my AC to 68 5/ turn the seat coolers on medium 6/ then change the seat cooler to high 7/ play a song 8/ change to a different song 9/ open the glovebox (had to enter my pin) 10/ close the glovebox 11/ tell me the weather 12/ play Elon’s song 13/ change my destination to San Francisco mid-drive 14/ pick a Supercharger bc I was almost out of battery ALL with my hands and feet off the steering wheel and pedals… Here’s exactly how it went. I said hey Grok, take me to the Pruneridge Golf Club closest to me, then the Starbucks near there. It set both. I started FSD with a press of a button. Then I just kept talking to it. It was kind of hot in my Cybertruck, so I asked Grok to set the temperature to 68 and cool. Done. Then I said put the seat coolers on medium… it turned it on. Then I said change the seat coolers to high… it bumped it up. I said to play a song from Future… it put a song on Spotify that wasn’t what I was looking for. So I changed it. I said to play a song from Lil Baby. That was the one. Then I asked Grok to open my glovebox. It wouldn’t do it until I put my PIN in on the screen, which I actually respect for safety. I typed in my PIN… it opened it. Then I said close the glovebox… it closed. I asked what the weather was… it said it was sunny in Santa Clara, high 85, low 64. Then I said play Don’t Doubt ur Vibe, I think that’s Elon… it pulled up Don’t Doubt ur Vibe by Elon “EDM” Musk on Spotify. Halfway there I changed my mind on where I wanted to go. I said actually take me to San Francisco first and that I might have to stop at a Supercharger bc I’m almost out of battery. Grok looked at my truck sitting at 14% battery life with 38 miles of range. And knowing San Francisco is 39 miles away it found a Tesla supercharger for me to charge along the way. I said thanks Grok. I just hit 100k subscribers on YouTube and I'm stoked. Which is why I've decided to give this whole content creation thing a real shot. Starting today, I am going to stream consistently on Twitch and regularly upload to my channel. A little back story on how I got here. Before I created content I suffered from clinical depression after having my thyroid removed due to cancer. I would escape by watching streams and gaming videos to relax. One day I decided to just give it a shot. So I hooked up my computer and talked into a very cheap mic and started streaming. It went terribly, but honestly... I was thrilled. Then I took some of that footage and edited it down like I did with skate videos to some random song that reminded me of a model runway. Took forever to get done on my free time. I got one encouraging comment... And I was absolutely thrilled. These days I get comments from people who tell me what they're struggling through and how my videos helped them forget about it for an hour. And every time that happens, I'm reminded of why I do this. To pay back for all the times I was entertained when I was having a hard time. It seems so dumb, but man... I can't tell you what a stupid little video or silly stream can do for someone having a really hard time. I'm not sure if this is going to work... But I'm going to give it a try. Even if I fail, I'm not going to stop creating. I got exciting plans for the future but this is the first step. Where it takes me... I'm not sure. I hope you all come along. Regardless. Thanks to all of you for supporting me and helping me out. I never thought I'd hit 100k or have any type of following. Not in a million years. I am grateful and appreciative. “Today when I was getting ready to ride one of my horses we heard some animal screaming. I first thought it was our alpacas fighting. My horse was very tense so I decided to go and check it out. The alpacas were all fine but the screaming continued further away in the pasture. So I went to look and found a poor roedeer all tangled in the metalwire fence. She was stuck tightly around her neck and waist and I could not get her free. I had to leave her and run back to our farm to find something to be able to cut the wire with. I ran back to her and was able to free her. Luckily I did not see any major injuries on her and I was able to lift her and let her go on the other side of the fence so she could get back inte the woods. I am so glad that we were home and outside so we heard her cries! And also happy that my horse behaviour and response to the noise made me go check it out.” — karins_lantliv on IG

For months, I've been quietly building a prototype of something just because I want it to exist. Papyrus is a word processor, editor, proofreader, fact-checker, deep researcher, brainstorming partner, all in one. It takes your rough draft and helps you skip three revisions. Now I'm considering pivoting my whole team to build it out, but first, I need your vote. You email is your vote. LINK IN COMMENTS. I don't even care if you use some email you never look at and just use for sign ups. To me one email is one vote and says, go ahead and build this damn thing out and make it awesome. I built it because today's apps are the bloated dial-ups of writing (Word, GDocs). They've got a hundred freaking buttons I don't need and bury the ones I do need. Or they're AI marketing slop toys that promise to read my mind and pump out garbage. They just don't get the real work of writing and they don't get me. I want a clean, focused space with a real AI co-pilot. I don't need it to do the all the writing for me, just like I don't need Claude Code to do all the code for me. I want to work with it. I want a writing partner that acts like a full writing team on-call 24X7: proofreading, fact-checking, and running deep research in the background while I focus on the hard parts. I'm tired of cutting and pasting between a dozen tools so I started writing this thing. But won't the big guys just build something like this? Sure. But it will just bolt your ass into their ecosystem. Google Docs will force Gemini on you. Whatever office suite OpenAI pumps out will only use GPT. I want to use any model. Open or closed. They're commodities. The app is the thing. I want the best tool for the job, GPT-5, Kimi, Qwen, Claude, whatever comes tomorrow. I want a fluid, flexible workspace. I'm building this thing for people who've got critical thinking and who build, who don't want to outsource every damn thing to the machine. So if that's you and you believe this should exist, I really need your vote. Tell me to build it and I'll go all-in and make it a reality. Thanks for giving me a moment of your time.

FINALLY! My first original project is officially done... I spent the last week putting this together, usually a couple hours every night. The ending might be my favorite scene I've ever created. I’ve always wanted to get better with AI, so I finally decided to take a shot at making something from start to finish with Grok Imagine. Ever since I wired Claude Code to WhatsApp 3 weeks ago, I built a stupidly large infra around it. I mean, opus built it. No clue how the code even looks. The entire thing was vibe coded using my phone. I wanted to see how far I could push it without touching the computer. Everything via WhatsApp. Build what I need on the fly. So the resulting infrastructure will already be battle tested for software development. The entire thing was streamlined with nearly no manual interventions, everything was communicated via WhatsApp using a single script establishing this connection. If the script is down, I need to get home to start it again to resume the development. Claude was upgrading it, debugging it, restarting it while maintaining constant uptime so it could keep communicating with me. I stressed Claude about it, telling it that it will be “in the dark” and other words that deliberately sound scary about losing communications if the script dies. I also refused git and refused cloning the code, I wanted to see Claude adapting to work on a *LIVING* system. The way this whole thing works: Claude has its own dedicated phone number that I am paying for. A real WhatsApp account for it is installed on a real iPhone that is sitting on my desk. All is registered under my name, this is legit setup with no hacks and tricks. I’ve set up a WhatsApp “Community” and multiple different groups under it. Both me and Claude are the admins, so Claude could edit it on my behalf. Each group is a project I am working on and has its own isolated context. The Group description is a system prompt that gets auto-appended to the larger system prompt explaining this setup in general. When I send a message it’s an instant interrupt to Claude Code’s process, just like in the terminal. Voice notes are seamlessly transcribed with a local Whisper model. Images are used with multimodal reading in an isolated parallel session. Multiple groups running in parallel so I can work on all projects at the same time. No cross-talking, everything has an isolated context and history. And because it’s local on my own machine: Everything is REAL. The browser is REAL. I am connected as myself on it to all services because I actually use it in real life. Claude has unlimited internet access, just like humans who use actual browsers. It utilizes custom-made browser tools that I made to control any browser session it wants. Depending on the situation, it can either connect to my existing session or create one for its own. (You can tell it ‘look at my browser for a sec’ then talk about the current page you are on and it just works, pretty cool) My custom browser tools are not perfect (not by a long shot) but I managed to make them work well to the point they are somewhat reliable. This gives Claude full access to my real creds and all the services I actually use. I’m productive AS HELL with this. It really feels like a personal assistant. I ask it to read my emails and msgs, check x .com for news, research arxiv papers, write code, run experiments for me, investigate and reverse engineer github repos, even use my credit card and order things. [I try not to do this one a lot lol so far no disasters]. All from my phone. Super convenient. This is not a product or an open source project (maybe soon of it will make sense). This is just an ugly script I hacked the entire thing is ~600 lines. (ok maybe i did look at the code, but i swear i didn’t edit!) You can also vibe code this from scratch pretty fast and it will probably even end up better. This is just a cool thing so I’m sharing. It is a real speed booster for many things I do on daily basis, mostly boring things. Forcing my routine into some new “agent platform” just didn’t feel right for me. WhatsApp is where I already communicate and look for messages, so I decided that my agents will live there too. AGI in my pocket 24/7.

OMG!!!!! 6 Days Ago I had never written a line of code in my life. But I just deployed my first note taking web app with a back end that stores the data, using Claude, Replit, and Google Firebase. Just brute forced asked Claude questions alternating between 2 accounts to get around the limits, AND STILL running out of credits on both accounts. Just about 4.5 hours later I had a custom Notes app in the style that I wanted. I obviously don't have any programming "hard skills", but my understanding of what is possible with code has increased 1,000,000%... I would share link but i don't think my code protects my API tokens or whatever... I got confused on that part. --- Next step is adding perplexity and claude API into the app. :) Posting full video making this on youtube at some point, idk when, its 3AM, off to bed... much love.
