You can use the Rotator node to spirally distort texture UVs. Adding or multiplying it with a sphere mask and a time parameter will allow you to have full control over the speed, center, and edges of the texture #gamedev #VFX #realtimeVFX #UnrealEngine5 #UnrealEngine

I tried recreating the scene in Arknights: Endfield where the triangular floor tiles move up and down randomly. It just takes a bit of UV prep on the mesh, and you can do it pretty easily with a noise texture and WPO animation! #vfx #UE5 #UE5Study #Material

The software also has a very useful inpainting tool. It can either fix imperfections from the automatic projection or increase the resolution of the area you're currently looking at in the viewer, while using very little VRAM. I'm also working on a smart projection system that can automatically texture complex environments.

I've been working with caustics for a while in #webGPU and one of the issues I find is that it's hard to handle caustics for complex scenes. It's easy for planes, you can save photons in a texture using either compute and atomics, or additive blending with the rasteriser. 🧵
