Today, I held a Staff meeting where we had in-depth discussions about the use of air defense systems and the protection of our cities and communities. Steps were identified to make the use of the systems we already have more effective. We are also working on securing additional protection for Ukraine. We are very much counting on the "Patriot" system that Romania is preparing to provide, and I will be grateful to Romania for this crucial support. This is something that will truly help our people, our country, and our entire region. We continue to work with all our partners to secure stronger support for our defense—especially long-range solutions that could destroy a significant portion of Russian ballistic missiles before they even launch. This is one of the key issues of this war. The issue of our long-range capabilities and the necessary approvals from our partners, as well as the long-range shells and missiles we could use, is critical. Russian strikes will become impossible if we have the ability to destroy the occupier's launch sites, military airfields, and logistics hubs where they are located. Granting Ukraine these approvals and providing us with this weaponry would be the biggest step toward a real, just end to this war. Russia simply doesn't know how to fight without terror—terrorist strikes and their ability to create destruction have replaced tactics and strategy for the Russian leadership in this war.

Today, we once again commend our warriors for their precision—specifically on enemy territory. This is what fundamentally changes the situation—our ability to bring the war back home to Russia. Another arsenal in Russia has been hit, and it was a significant one for the occupiers. I am grateful to all our warriors in the Defense and Security Forces of Ukraine who were involved. The Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, and everyone else who took part—great job. There’s also commendable work by the Security Service of Ukraine on yet another Russian military depot. We have done a lot to transition the Ukrainian Air Force to a new aviation standard – Western combat aviation. From the beginning of this war, we have been talking with our partners about the need to close the Ukrainian sky from Russian missiles and aircraft. We have held hundreds of meetings and negotiations to strengthen the capabilities of our aviation, air defense, and Defense Forces. We often heard the word "impossible" in response, but we made possible what was our ambition, our defense need, and now – it is a reality in our sky. F-16s in Ukraine. We ensured this. I am proud of all our guys who are skillfully mastering these aircraft and have already started using them for our country. I thank our team for this result. The missile launch areas against Ukraine included, among others, the airspace of the Kursk and Belgorod regions, other border regions of Russia, as well as the Black Sea and the territory of our occupied Crimea. People who manufacture our weapons, which show results on the battlefield, at sea, and in air strikes on Russia's war machine. I thank them for Ukrainian artillery shells, cannons, drones, missiles, and electronic warfare systems. For everything that helps our warriors fight and saves Ukraine’s life and the lives of Ukrainians. We will have more weapons, shells, drones, and EW systems. Today, I met workers from one of our defense facilities. We do not talk about it officially. During wartime, we cannot openly demonstrate our capabilities. We covered all aspects of our strategy for bringing peace closer—geopolitical, military, and economic. We must act together—everyone who has the necessary strength and influence—to guarantee a reliable peace, to compel Russia to peace. But we must act now, in the coming months. We need to strengthen our soldiers on the frontlines and bolster our shared positions. Now, at the team level, we will work with our European partners to fill each step of our plan to the fullest. This will lead us to an effective second Peace Summit, so that the war ends. And that it was just and fair end to this war.

All six Kalibr missiles were shot down last night, and 31 out of 33 cruise missiles were intercepted, meaning whenever the necessary capabilities are available, our warriors deliver truly high interception rates. That is the only explanation for the problem with ballistic missiles – insufficient number of interceptors. This is especially true for Patriots. We have proven to all our partners both the need, and more importantly, the possibility of providing greater protection of lives. It is simply nonsensical that, in today’s world, production has still not been scaled up to the level that is actually needed to protect people from ballistic terror. We have long made the case that we are capable of producing such defensive weapons ourselves. If Ukraine were granted U.S. licenses to produce Patriots, our own production would be sufficient both to protect Ukraine and to help partners in need. We are in contact with everyone around the world who can provide air defense missiles now. This is our top priority.

Finished a meeting with military leaders, the Government, and the Office, summarizing the visit to the United States. Our teams – both Ukrainian and American – are already working on everything we discussed in New York and Washington, and we are now preparing for the upcoming ‘Ramstein’ meeting. Today, I received several reports from Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi regarding the frontlines, our actions, and the push to drive the war onto the aggressor’s territory. I thank every unit of our Defense Forces that is making this possible. Ukraine is proving that it truly knows how to restore justice and applies the necessary pressure on the aggressor. I would also like to thank our partners—everyone who made this week successful in implementing sanctions against Russia and those associated with it. This needs to be felt every week—that sanctions are indeed working, and anyone who tries to circumvent them faces a response from the world. I thank our partners and Mark Rutte that the PURL initiative exists and is functioning – contributions were made this May. There will be contributions in June as well. Today, we discussed how we can accelerate and expand deliveries under this key program. I also thank all our partners who are already working with us on joint production and helping with funding so that weapons production in Ukraine can continue to grow. We discussed with the NATO Secretary General several other things that could provide Ukraine with stronger long-term financial security guarantees.
