We hate this so, so much. Scenes of starvation and desperation. We hate that these are the conditions that the occupation has created. We hate that young boys and girls, pregnant women, the elderly, set out daily with just an empty pot and the will to feed their families.... We continue to hear about massacres at aid sites. Murdering those who are trying to provide for their families. Hungry individuals just like you see in our video. They were just trying to fill their gnawing bellies. And that is how they die? There is no humanity. In an attempt to scale up our food distributions, we provided pots of hot cooked meals to multiple areas in the North. The Translating Falasteen (Translating Falasteen (Palestine)) x The Sameer Project team brought 5 Pots of cooked thick lentils to displacement camps in al-Samer area of Gaza City. Each pot of lentils costs 1,000 shekels and after 3% bank transfer charge, approximately $300 or $1,500 for this area before labor and transportation fees. We recently found a kitchen running and serving potatoes and eggplants with tahini so we immediately purchased the whole amount, donate: We were so happy to find a meal with carbs and veggies to serve. We got the good news that some trucks belonging to the World Kitchen entered through the Zikim crossing, making it safely to warehouses in preparation for distributions. But with 2 million hungry people in Gaza, this is not enough. Our teams continue to provide big batch pots to help feed those in dire need, suffering from this manmade famine. Translating Falasteen (Translating Falasteen (Palestine)) x The Sameer Project provided an incredible 20 pots of zucchini and rice in Al-Mina (Port) Camp, west of Gaza City on June 16. Each pot of nutritious stew cost 2,100 shekels or more than $600. This is one of the more filling meals we have provided and the community kitchen cost a total of 43,110 shekels including wages, and then $12,713 after the 3% bank transfer fee for payment. With bakeries closed and aid distribution sites continuing to lure people to their deaths, communities rely on “takiyyas” to line up and receive a meal in a pot they bring with them. We supplied 4 pots of eggplant and a tomato broth at al-Fakhoura Camp, Al-Daraj neighborhood in Gaza City. Each pot contains around 43 servings and each serving is enough for about 3 people, providing 1000 calories for each meal serving. We have been providing pots to various takiyyas around Gaza City daily. These pots were 1600 shekels each or nearly $460 each before labor and 3% commission for bank transfer fees. We have been sourcing and purchasing what is still available in Gaza, but as others are running out of food and cannot find more to purchase, community food distributions are becoming more chaotic and desperate. Translating Falasteen (Translating Falasteen (Palestine)) x The Sameer Project provided 7 pots of nutritious navy beans at al-Kawthar Camps 1, 2, and 3 in the Universities Square, in Gaza City. This area is densely populated, and everyone is hungry. Men, women, children, and the vulnerable like pregnant women and the chronically ill are having difficulty even finding one meal per day, so they rushed our teams in order to get anything to sustain them. What we provided, what anyone can provide now, is not enough. It breaks our hearts if anyone is left with an empty pot. We have decided to scale up our food distributions as much as possible, aiming to supply 10 large food pots in the North (and the South) daily, in order to feed thousands. They experience a moment of normalcy, getting haircuts, amidst the destruction. This small but important initiative always brings dignity and care to the kids who get a trim. Starting from today rice meals are $9 so we are doubling up on all numbers with aid trucks coming in and more goods available, donate: So far the trucks mainly had sugar, flour and rice, we pray that meat and a variety of vegetables and fruit comes in. On August 1st prices were still at $17.50 per plate and we distributed 225 meals (800g per meal) at Al Katiba Camp, Konia, in Al Rimal. The total cost was $3,938 with 10% commission. As it’s being revealed by U.S. contractors, hired by Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, that their colleagues are firing live ammunition into crowds of hungry Palestinians, we in contrast continue to provide food with dignity and respect. Recent footage showing men, women, and children hunted down and shot at as they are leaving distribution sites that are supposed to supply humanitarian aid, MAKES US SICK. How dare a group under the premise of care and humanity be allows to operate, to lure families into a death traps. Translating Falasteen (Translating Falasteen (Palestine)) x The Sameer Project provides aid without conditions. We distribute with fairness and with equity in mind. We give assistance to those suffering by the occupation’s cruelty, we do not add to it. Our team gave out 200 hot meals of rice at Salaheddine and Assad al Saftawi schools in Al-Daraj neighborhood in Gaza City. Translating Falasteen (Translating Falasteen (Palestine)) x the Sameer Project team distributed 150 meals to the civil defense team, ambulance team and individual tents in Al Samer neighborhood in Gaza City, support: . Each meal cost $17.85 with 10% commission so total of $2,678. Each meal of rice weighs 800 grams so it’s enough for 2-3 people. With the ongoing imposed famine by the military occupation, a few bites of food, and especially carbs, is very difficult to obtain. We are hoping aid comes into Gaza so that we can return to serving thousands per day. Till then we continue to provide whats available and distributing to hospitals, frontliners and camps.
