WebMCP by Microsoft and Google is HERE and I'm surprised more people aren't talking about it. Why does it matter? BILLIONS of dollars are about to move through agents, and the internet isn't built for them yet. 1. SEO was about Google understanding your page. 2. AEO was about... show more

leaving this here 😉

Yo thanks for having me on again, Greg! Here’s the espresso store repo for those interested:

🙏🙏

We’ve been building a few resources that might be useful for anyone exploring it: 1/ Find WebMCP-enabled websites in the first WebMCP directory 2/ Inspect and test WebMCP tools with our developer extension 3/ Build WebMCP tools for your own site with our Codex plugin 4/ Read the first benchmark comparing WebMCP with other ways agents can operate the browser

whole new sectors loading...

The video was pretty cool. I’m gonna experiment with webMCP tomorrow for the Codex hackathon! I have some cool ideas for e-commerce.

law firms and hvac shops adopting agent buttons before they've finished updating their google business listing, sure

buttons for agents is just an api with better marketing

The challenge is that most businesses don’t realize they need to become agent-ready yet

WebMCP is the missing bridge. SEO made pages findable, AEO made them citable, but neither actually finished the transaction. That's the gap. The mystery shopper idea is the smart one. Every business with a broken booking flow is bleeding money and doesn't know it. Hand them a report showing exactly where the agent got stuck, and the sale closes itself. The conversion agency is a harder sell. Most small business owners still don't get why they need this. You're selling them a problem they can't see yet. But the shift is real. Agents aren't going to keep guessing at badly structured sites. The sites that adapt first will eat the market.

Why not ship a MCP server instead of adding WebMCP support to websites ? Websites are for humans and MCP servers for agents

agents are making decisions for humans based on the simplest path to completion, there's a small window to get ahead with agents... "arBOTrage"

@jeerfree

interesting point about the internet not being built for agents. with our own agent for job searching, we hit this wall constantly, where sites expect a human to be there.

So who’s actually building for agents right now?

Yeah, Its like Google's preferred embedded choice button but globally. Now people will sell this as the new AI ranking.

OpenAI, Cloudflare, Vercel, Netlify also working on WebMCP. This is getting interesting, WebMCP is gaining momentum across the web.

I’m doing this with @Replit charging way more than $2,000

building in public over here too - just shipped my first iOS app, a pantry scanner to stop food waste:

Thanks, sent this post to Codex this morning. It built and shipped a production WebMCP + remote MCP quote flow for today. Excited to see if anyone uses it....

The Agent Mystery Shopper! This idea gives me shiny thing syndrome, and I want to build it in a day.

I think boring businesses are all about people not agents, it’s gonna be a tough sell

Most sites still only expose HTML meant for humans

WebMCP is the infrastructure that unlocks agent commerce. Because right now agents are guessing: where to click, what to enter, whether the transaction worked. WebMCP just tells them: "here's how to search, book, buy." That's not a marginal improvement. That's removing the friction tax on every agent interaction. Once billions in commerce flow through agents instead of humans, every business that isn't agent-ready is losing. The WebMCP conversion agency + mystery shopper ideas are just the beginning.

Agent-ready websites are useless if the quote still sits 48 hours. Make the site bookable. Then name who owns the request, the 5-min textback, and the close-or-kill. Otherwise you just made it easier for an agent to drop a lead into a dead inbox.

SEO was for Google. If agents start using your site, a page that only looks pretty to humans is a closed door.

Wow this is huge, I definitely need to look into it more. Thanks for sharing.

WebMCP is here. Billions will move through agents. Ours still move through hey. Opens: none yet.

Billions moving through agents makes WebMCP worth watching closely.

worth splitting interface from content. webmcp solves interface. it still assumes the capability was documented well enough to expose. true for transactional flows, they already exist as code. less so for internal processes which tend to live with whoever runs them. wondering whether the agent-ready wave forces companies to finally write that down or just exposes how little of it exists.

We already built an interface for Claude using MCP UI for @contactdrive. Excited to jump into WebMCP as well.

I actually started playing around with WebMCP today too for the OpenAI Hackathon. I’m surprised by how well it works.
