A man arrested in connection with the attempted kidnapping of a baby at Pike Place Market will not face felony charges, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office. In an email to KOMO News, the prosecutor's office said that after further investigation, the Seattle Police Department determined the case did not meet the legal standard for a felony charge. The days of walking onto a Sound Transit train without paying could soon become much more difficult. Sound Transit is looking to install fare gates at 14 of its busiest stations, forcing riders to tap their ORCA card to get in and out. The transit agency is losing millions of dollars to unpaid fares and believes this could be the fix. The proposal, which could go to a vote before the Sound Transit Board on Aug. 27, would launch a phased pilot program requiring riders to tap an ORCA card or other approved payment method both when entering and exiting selected stations. Seattle police have arrested a suspect in the murder of a University of Washington student. Juniper Blessing, a 19-year-old student and transgender woman, was found dead with stab wounds in a laundry room at the Nordheim Court Apartments – off-campus housing for UW students – Sunday night. The arrest came hours after the Seattle Police Department (SPD) released photos of a suspect on Wednesday, described as armed and dangerous. SPD confirmed to KOMO News that the man in the photos is the same man who was arrested. According to Seattle police Det. Brian Pritchard, the 31-year-old man — later identified as Christopher Leahy — turned himself in to Bellevue police before being transferred to SPD detectives. Two large boats serving Seattle routes are currently out of service, leaving only 15 ferries when 17 are needed for full winter service, WSF said. The Seahawks' NFC Championship game, which will determine a spot in the Super Bowl, is happening at Seattle's Lumen Field on Sunday. One of the two large ferries that's out of service is the Wenatchee, which hit a log and bent a propeller during foggy weather on Wednesday.
