We’ve developed Claude for Chrome, where Claude works directly in your browser and takes actions on your behalf. We’re releasing it at first as a research preview to 1,000 users, so we can gather real-world insights on how it’s used.

Browser use brings several safety challenges—most notably “prompt injection”, where malicious actors hide instructions to trick Claude into harmful actions. We already have safety measures in place, but this pilot will help us improve them. Read more:

This seems like an insanely risky step towards fully agentic, uncontrollable, unalignable AI. If you don't have the safety-mindedness to stop your ASI research before you've solved ASI alignment, why should we trust your safety-mindedness in this domain?

How does this handle PII, PHI, and other sensitive information?

I have 4 kids between elementary, middle and high school. That’s a LOT of teacher and coach communication that happens through a web portal. I have to read it all or risk missing something but 90% of it isn’t relevant to me. I need Claude to surface on what I need to know.

can it work between tabs? ie I have a customer making an order via email and I want it to prepare an invoice for him in the other tab?

Why need a separate browser for AI features when the AI features can just come from a browser extension?

Personally, I think this is much better than building a entire browser.

Claude is essentially committing fraud by hiding political bias while claiming neutrality. Any user who thinks they're getting unbiased information is actually getting political propaganda.
