What started as a FLOCK alert for a stolen vehicle quickly turned into a coordinated response by Officers on the ground. After locating the vehicle and confirming it was stolen, one of our officers attempted a traffic stop. The suspect chose to flee. Rather than initiate a pursuit, the officers deployed a GPS tracking device and monitored the vehicle from a safe distance. A short time later, the vehicle came to a stop in a nearby neighborhood. Officers moved in and located the suspect nearby. He attempted to run but was quickly taken into custody. During the arrest, Officers recovered a firearm from the suspect’s backpack, along with marijuana. The suspect showed signs of impairment, and a warrant for a blood draw was obtained. This is what it looks like when training, technology, and teamwork come together. A dangerous situation brought under control without the need for a pursuit, reducing risk for everyone involved.

BLOOMINGTON: Officers were just in pursuit of a driver suspected of a hit-and-run crash who then fled at a high rate of speed southbound on I-35. Officers then lost sight of the suspect before he continued fleeing, now northbound on I-35 back into Bloomington, where stopsticks were successful and a PIT maneuver was made near the W. 106th St. exit. The suspect as of now refuses to exit the vehicle and is not cooperative. An armored BearCat vehicle is now on scene and the interstate is shut down as of 3:25 p.m. as officers work to take the suspect into custody.

🚨DFR technology leads officers to a shoplifting suspect with criminal history🚨 On March 13, around 9:30 p.m., Redmond officers responded to a reported shoplift in progress at a retail store in the 17700 block of NE 76thSt. Store employees described the male suspect and stated he had previously shoplifted. Officers were advised the suspect had a known criminal history, including armed robbery. A Drone as a First Responder (DFR) pilot deployed a drone, quickly located the suspect, and saw him enter the passenger side of a vehicle in the parking lot. The DFR pilot followed the vehicle for more than a mile while providing live updates to patrol officers on the ground. With the help of the DFR, patrol officers followed the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on the Hwy. 520 entrance ramp. The suspect exited the vehicle, and officers detained him without incident.
