The rotator cuff consists of the supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor, and subscapularis. These originate on your scapula, or shoulder blade, and insert on different parts of your humerus, or upper arm. As a whole, they provide dynamic stability to the shoulder joint, while individually, they assist with various shoulder movements, including abduction, adduction, internal rotation, and external rotation. Since these muscles contribute to multiple shoulder movements along with other muscles, you really cannot isolate the rotator cuff. Even with external rotation, which is performed mostly by the infraspinatus and teres minor, you will receive some assistance from the posterior deltoid. Therefore, in order to maximize rotator cuff strength, our recommendation would be to focus on a comprehensive program. This will better prepare you for a wide variety of tasks and activities involving the shoulder. To demonstrate what we mean, let’s consider the biceps. If you perform pull ups and rows, these exercises will secondarily work the biceps. However, if your goal was to maximize strength and hypertrophy of the biceps, you would also incorporate isolation exercises, like a biceps curl. The rotator cuff is no different. Compound pushing and pulling exercises at various angles will challenge the rotator cuff, but if you want to train your shoulders to their full potential, a comprehensive program that also includes isolation exercises in different directions will likely be the most optimal. I had never seen this video, thanks to Daniel Kim 대니얼 김 for sending it to me. Then moment I tore my rotator cuff. 2009, I was 36yo, I hadn't been a regular starting pitcher since 2000 but was doing so in Korea. This is Game 1 of the first round of the postseason. Great crowd, great atmosphere, I has been throwing well for them and was sure to be back the next season. Things were good. I tear my rotator on this 0-2 pitch (scorebug says 2-0 b/c they do counts backwards there, 2-3 is a full count). I know I am hurt, I never had been before, but I knew. In the 1-2 count I am deep in thought on the mound, I was hesitant because I know what's coming, "This next pitch is going to hurt like hell. Just throw it down the middle and we'll see what happens." I get lucky, a strikeout, but I just tore my rotator cuff even worse and nearly fell over in pain. Shockingly I tried to go back out for the 4th inning, I actually forgot about that part. Clearly I was done. My shoulder still bugs me to this day. It is so strange when I watch this and write about it how I can feel the exact spot where it tore, nearly 17 years ago. The mind and body are so fascinating.

After opening with “general soreness” on CJ Stroud, DeMeco Ryans was asked again and gave the same answer. When pressed about surgery, he cut it off with: “That’s it on CJ, guys.” Some took that as defensive. I just think he’s frustrated having to keep addressing something they view as minor. I get the logic—if you say “rotator cuff inflammation” or “shoulder strain,” it sets off alarm bells. But brushing it off has backfired too. I’m not saying I agree or disagree with how they’ve handled it—just that they likely think it’s nothing, didn’t want it to blow up, and now it has anyway. What’s your reaction to this clip?

The goal is to restore mobility BEFORE your athlete picks up a ball and then maintain it. Try the “2-Out Drill” to warm up your athlete before pitching and to maintain mobility between innings throughout a game. 👇 Here it is: 1️⃣ Static Stretches - you want to start with these and hold each pose for only about 3 seconds. Stop Pushing With Your Back Leg As I trained to throw harder, I thought I needed to create a ton of momentum down the mound and really push off the rubber. That was actually holding me back from gaining pitching velocity for a couple reasons. The first reason was that pushing made it really hard for my pelvis to fire because it put me in a worse position instead of a better one. When I was pushing, it also made me fly open. The fix was thinking about keeping everything back and letting the pelvis rotate instead of pushing with my back leg. Most of your linear momentum comes from the drift and the drop in your delivery and the back leg. The back leg does have a role in building linear momentum, but its more important role is putting you in a good position to rotate. To create separation between your pelvis and your rib cage. That separation is what gives you true hip to shoulder separation that you can actually fire from.

If you're measuring the effectiveness of these tools by whether they can "one-shot" a design, you're consuming too many AI hype commercials. Log off. Then go actually build something with your hands. With AI. With your taste. Stop trying to "one-shot" good shit. And go make stuff with the new tools. For designers who want to ship real products, this is the stack that's getting it done.
