✨ Made a new mini feature on Photo AI: [ Grab from 3d model ] So the problem is we're at that stage in time (typical for AI) where image-to-3d models are not good enough but are fun to play with, but we know they'll be good enough in 1-2 years With [ Make 3d model ] you already can turn any Photo AI pic into a 3d model but it still looks hyper clunky and deformed, but it works! One cool idea I had to make that more useful and made now: Let people make a 3d model then change the view of the it with the 3d viewer, then press [ o ] and it grabs a frame of the 3d That image you can then [ Remix ] (img2img), and it becomes a real photo again and that in turn you can then turn into a video again with [ Make video ] So that essentially gives you a fully freeform camera position control to take photos with One thing I need to fix is the background/skybox, I kinda need to take the original photo and remove the person and just get the background for the 3d model viewer, in this case it should be white, but it's a start!

Robots can now reconstruct 3D scenes in real time from a single RGB camera. [📍 Projects page + paper] No depth sensor. No retraining. 30 FPS. Researchers at the Imperial College London introduced KV-Tracker, a training-free method that makes heavy models like π³ and Depth Anything 3 fast enough for real-time tracking. The idea is simple. I always wondered "What if I port my three.js game to Rust? Will it improve performance?" I finally ported it to both Rust Desktop and Rust WASM (that runs on the browser) Comparing the three.js version with the Rust desktop I had a clear winner: Rust desktop. But now I took the time to port it to the web using Web Assembly (WASM) And my conclusion is... A tie! Both versions averaged 42FPS (60FPS if running one at a time) So if your goal is to ship a web game, it doesn't even matter the tech you use. (Three.js is recommended because the ecossystem is huge though) As long you optmize well (Web workers, reduce triangles, draw calls, etc) you should be good to go. But in the event you want to ship a native game to publish on Steam a system language (Rust, C++, etc) will be better for you. Now I want to port the three.js game to Desktop using Electron and see the results. I'll let you know. Btw, I'm open to new freelance projects. If you have anything for me, my DMs are open!

2023 was the year of AI avatars 2024 was the year of AI photos 2025 was the year of AI videos And I think it's becoming clear now that 2026 will be the year of AI world models Fully interactive explorable 3d worlds generated from one or multiple 2d images or a prompt In turn these 2d images can then be generated by AI too So soon you can generate fully explorable virtual 3d worlds based on your own imagination Next will be figuring out how to make those worlds interactive This is World Labs (unaffiliated, but I like it) As always a lot of big AI model companies are now working on the same thing: 3d world models, only World Labs has a real properly working demo (for now) Very exciting time again!

Speaking of Dreams.. still kinda crazy to me how perfect of a match a tool like that is for generative AI workflows. Intuitive game engine/creative sandbox that allows you to build almost anything, running underneath a Gen AI render. Sculpting, painting, interacting with your two hands in 3d space, here using two move controllers which by now is tech from 2010. I haven't seen ANY way to interact with 3d that allows for the same fast and intuitive sculpting without forcing you to wear a VR headset. I made this scene a few years ago in 2 and a half hour or so as part of a 1 scene pr. episode of The Last of Us, and ran it through a combo of Runway and Sora to get to this result.

Very pleasantly surprised to discover Cursor cloud agents can playtest the godot game I built. See the (sped up) video below of the agent playtesting the game. As I was watching it play the game, I can see the agent slowly learn how the game works and familiarise with the game's UI. I also realised that the agent is a very 'safe' player, choosing to play very safely and retreating from battle if it foresees it can't defeat. Very interesting to see. I wonder if I could simulate different game playtester behaviours that mimic different types of real-world player archetypes. With agentic playtesting, this means that the agents are able to provide actual gameplay feedback and suggestions to improve the game, having played the game itself. This unlocks a whole lot of possibilities for AI-assisted game dev, since it closes the playtest loop. This feels like the future of recursive game development, where agents can now recursively build > playtest > improve the games they are working on. Thanks edwin for letting me know that these agents can actually playtest games, not just software! Very excited to dig deeper to see what I can do with these agents with computer access!
