I’ve dealt with dispatchers like that. Nothing like logging in, turning on your radio at the beginning of your shift and hearing Shaniqua. You know you’re in for a long shift.

AFAIK “smoke and fume” is the standard term (as used by the second crew) so I can see why the ramp controllers asked for clarification. Pilot was informing, not requesting clearance. She did not tell him to hold. Good job by all. No need for racist comments about the controller.
