In March, I submitted a video statement for the 58th Session of the Human Rights Council, which is now available on UN Web TV: Despite international attention, including statements by UN Special Rapporteurs, the Pakistani state continues its campaign of oppression against the Baloch people. Our peaceful struggle for justice and human rights has been met with increased brutality. Today, more than 200 of our fellow activists, including prominent leaders such as Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Shahji Baloch, and Beebarg Baloch, are being held in illegal detention. We urge all international human rights organizations and the global community to continue raising their voices against these grave injustices. No Gas, No Cash The Pakistani occupation forces are in the Republic of Balochistan for one purpose: to loot and plunder the wealth of the Baloch nation. For decades, they have generated billions of dollars from Balochistan’s gas, minerals, ports, and natural resources, while the Baloch people themselves remain deprived of the very wealth that belongs to them. Today, the Baloch liberation forces are disrupting this exploitation by targeting the economic machinery of invading Pakistani forces that fuels it. It has been 11 years since Rafiq Oman, a teacher (headmaster) and a Baloch singer, was forcibly detained and kept in unknown whereabouts. On this day, September 21, in 2014, he was abducted by personnel of the law enforcement agencies when he was on his way to Turbat city from Bal Negwar for a school students’ registration issue – and then he never returned home. He is from Iran 🇮🇷 and is currently traveling through many countries. He traveled across Afghanistan 🇦🇫 without any problems and was able to move freely throughout the entire country. Now he is at the border between Iran and 🇵🇰 , on the Pakistani side. He was stopped there for four days and was not allowed to continue his journey from the border toward Quetta. According to him, the Pakistani border police believe that the road from the Iranian border to Quetta is not safe. This alone says a lot and shows that Pakistan is an unsafe country for tourists. The neighbor insists that his property line is right where this gentleman’s fence is being built. In the middle of the night, he came by and cut down the newly installed fence, and even took a sledge hammer to the new driveway installed as well because he feels it’s on his property line. The gentleman went ahead and got a survey done and clearly showed not only he was wrong, but much of the neighbors “property” is actually his. He hasn’t called the cops because he didn’t get it on video but he knows it was him. Is there anything else he can do at this point?
