This is a very sad state of affairs in more ways than one. First, why did the student commit suicide? A very likely reason- a serious cost or an end of his academic pursuit? If that is the case, it is not right. Kids should not be living in a pressure cooker. There should be pressure release mechanisms built into the system as they are in the US. Second, a lack of professional demeanor when interacting with students. Professors have a perceived position of authority that should be neutralized with humbleness and not compounded by exercising it. Hope they are not looking for a villain to blame everything upon and wash their hands off from fixing the real problems. This tragedy should be used have something tangible come out of it for the common good.

But on a serious note... I truly appreciate your effort and initiative... Maybe you ought to be the LoP...

This SC ST act itself is draconian... On a daily basis we see the misuse ... Reservations on the basis of cast is the root cause ... Abolish it

Noway, professor appears to be guilty, if the student committed suicide! Professor was doing his duty. If any student is weak or incapable, it is his problem and instead of committing suicide he should workout to solve his problem. Judiciary & police should also be judicious

Acting to sahi se kar lete, na to police walo ki grip tight hai na hi kisi ke face ke expressions sahi hai. Case register hone ka matlab declaration nahi hota hai , investigation ke liye registration needed hai. I hope you know the process.

If that student was so weak than how can it be the problem of a Professor. Their parents should be put behind the jail for pressuring their own child. I don't think kids take these sort of steps because of a Professor if parents are supportive and don't pressurise the kid to death.
