Why Christopher Nolan chose everyday American accents and Travis Scott over traditional cinema voices, and why he says the old way has absolutely no logic. We're trying to be what I find in the poem, which is earthy, grounded, accessible, and stunningly relevant. Academics talk about how Homer's story was passed down as oral formulaic poetry, but they'll talk about Yugoslav folk poets instead of looking at rap or a guy like Travis Scott. That's why I've got Travis in the movie. He got it immediately, this is how this story has been handed down, and we have that in our culture today.
