Jeremy Renner explains how he survived 38 broken bones, a crushed skull, and an eye popping out of his head after getting crushed by a snowplow. Jeremy Renner: My instinct was to jump back on it and try to stop it. Obviously didn't work out... and got run over. I leaped up and over to try to grab onto it, and got sucked under the whole thing. Joe Rogan: How much of your body did it run over? Jeremy Renner: All of it... 38 broken bones and eyeballs out. All the doctors were like, "Dude, I don't know how your eye is still operating or still working," but I think because I was on ice... I saw my eye with my other eye, right? And I'm like, "Well, let me try to keep that thing... put the eye on ice until I could figure out how to breathe." Joe Rogan: So 38 bones? Jeremy Renner: Yeah, a lot of ribs, spiral fractures in my legs, all my joints were broken. But my spine was spared, all my organs were spared, my brain. It's almost no harm, no foul at the end of the day, even though there's probably 20% titanium in my body at this point.

I was completely wrong, James Gunn is a genius who can make anything work, but I was at a precarious moment in my career. Sitting in green screen suits just wasn't my cup of tea, and I don't regret turning it down.

But then, when I was making Pride & Prejudice, I got a call to be in the video game adaptation, Doom. I thought, "Yeah, I can do anything. I can certainly go and kill some zombies on Mars." Originally, Ray Winstone was the lead, but he was replaced by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Suddenly, I’m in this film with The Rock, and I realized how utterly ill-equipped I was. The first day I met Dwayne, who couldn't be nicer, he was just a completely different beast from a 24-year-old me. He had this team of macho guys, weights on the set, and this intense, pre-take warmup routine that felt like an All Blacks Haka. I was just completely out of my depth. The film was an absolute bomb. It was a catastrophe. You do think, "Shit, is it because I wasn't hot enough?" I don't think I took that side of it seriously, or worked out for the gym body that a better female action star would have done

Scarlett Johansson admitted filming The Avengers felt like complete, chaotic mess, right up until that iconic Grand Central 360 shot made the cast realize it was actually going to work. Scarlett Johansson: When we made The Avengers, none of us knew its potential. Iron Man was massively successful and built Marvel Studios. Iron Man 2 was also successful. Thor had a completely different tone, and Captain America had its own identity. Adding everyone, plus Hulk and Hawkeye, felt like a big mess. On set, we all felt crazy and looked insane. We had blind faith in Kevin Feige and Joss Whedon. The 360-degree shot of all the characters together in front of Grand Central was the moment we realized, 'I think this is going to work.' Looking at the playback, it was powerful and cool, even if shooting it didn't always feel that way. We were young, had a blast, and became close friends. We’ve become a family, navigating personal ups and downs over the years, coming out the other side together and united.

After getting written off The Walking Dead, the biggest show on television, Jon Bernthal went back to set just to pick up his truck, and ended up sitting in the woods in tears watching them shoot without him. Conan O'Brien: You get on The Walking Dead right at the start, hit a home run with an iconic character, and then famously get killed off not once, but twice, because you can't take Jon Bernthal out with just one bullet. A lot of actors would look at the show gaining massive momentum and think, "Damn, I wish I stayed on for 10 or 11 years." But leaving early was actually a gift, it freed you up to take on new roles and show what else you can do. Jon Bernthal: At the time, it felt like classic bad luck: "Here we go, I finally land a hit show, and boom, pack your shit and go." I remember going back to the set just to pick up my truck. I watched them shoot a massive scene with the barn on fire and zombies everywhere. I sat on a rock in the woods, wept, and felt sorry for myself, realizing that family was moving on without me. But looking back on The Walking Dead now, it’s just total, deep gratitude. What a privilege it was to play that character.

Originally, Beca's audition song was supposed to be "I'm a Little Teacup," which made no sense. When the studio wanted to release the cup song as a single and make a music video, I thought it was completely embarrassing. Somehow, it climbed the charts into the Billboard top 10 while I was filming a tiny indie movie in a church basement, competing with Miley Cyrus and Macklemore. Alex Cooper: Did you ever learn to be like "Damn that shit's good"? Anna Kendrick: They did send me a platinum record, and that was pretty cool.

Ryan Coogler: When I look back at my relationship with him, it taught me not to take things for granted. When I was stressed on Black Panther and worried about getting fired, he would pull me to the side and say, "I'm not letting them like fire you, bro."
