For the facial animations in my game, I use a technique that yields results similar to L.A. Noire. To keep it simple: I first generate a facial animation video using AI like LTX 2. Then, I create a video depth map from that animation and project it onto a face mask. Using vertex displacement, the depth map dynamically deforms the face as the character speaks. The result looks good in standalone VR. I actually created this workflow long time ago:

The software also has a very useful inpainting tool. It can either fix imperfections from the automatic projection or increase the resolution of the area you're currently looking at in the viewer, while using very little VRAM. I'm also working on a smart projection system that can automatically texture complex environments.

🚨I have something special to show today. I’m also working on a Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis emulator that uses AI to convert the old sprites from games on both consoles into HD sprites. Once the conversion is done, the games can be played in HD. Here’s an example with Ranma ½: Hard Battle on Super Nintendo. For this test, I only converted the background and female Ranma, but I can convert the entire game into HD. The whole process is fully automated and works with all SNES and Genesis games.

You can change the look of Green Hill and other environments depending on the prompt you use with the HD emulator. For example, I think the scenery looks much better here than in my first test. I also added the option to use your own artwork, so you’re not forced to use AI. You can press F9 to capture the original sprites, which creates composite sprite sheets that you can then paint over or completely redraw in Photoshop, for example.

I placed an untextured 3D model in the scene and asked Astra to use ImageGen projections to texture the model, then bake those projections into actual textures and it worked on the very first try! I feel like I’m discovering things Astra can do that maybe even OpenAI Tibo Sam Altman are not aware.

I’m testing the new 4-step Turbo LoRA for MiniMax. With just 16GB of VRAM, I can generate 15 seconds of 480p video in around 1 minute and 30 seconds! I also noticed something pretty funny if you use a song as an audio reference and tell the character to dance to it, the character actually follows the rhythm of the music surprisingly well.
