Dr. Mahrang Baloch and Others Arrested: Dead Bodies Seized, Women and Children Attacked in Brutal Pre-Dawn Crackdown by State Security Forces The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) had announced a sit-in yesterday in Quetta, demanding the release of its central committee member Bebarg, his brother Hammal, Dr. Ilyas, and others who have been forcibly disappeared, as well as the release of Baloch woman Saeeda and several others. From the very beginning, the state responded with violent repression. Police arrested protesters, security forces escalated their assault with baton charges, tear gas shelling, and mass arrests. An awareness program was organized today in Dera Murad Jamali, Naseerabad where Baloch Yakjehti Committee's Central Organizer Dr Mahrang Baloch addressed the Baloch nation on the ongoing genocide faced by the Baloch Nation. Local reports confirm that at least three towns in the area have been subjected to severe military aggression, resulting in the enforced disappearance and extrajudicial killing of residents. One of the most tragic incidents involved Bakhtiar Ahmed Baloch, who was fatally shot by Frontier Corps (FC) personnel after he reportedly urged the forces not to conduct disruptive search operations in residential areas that were distressing local women and children. Following his killing, his son and nephew were also forcibly disappeared, with no information provided to the family regarding their whereabouts. Eyewitness accounts further detail the destruction of approximately 80 to 100 homes by bulldozers. In addition, vital civilian infrastructure—including solar energy systems, water sources, gardens, and crops—was deliberately destroyed. These are essential for the people survival and livelihood in these areas. The operation has led to the mass displacement of families, many of whom were forced to flee without being allowed to take their personal belongings. When some residents attempted to return to retrieve basic necessities, they were met with threats and were denied access to their homes by the stationed forces. Many displaced families have now sought refuge in Kalat city, where they continue to face hardship and uncertainty, pleading for the right to return to their homes and to live without fear. These actions represent serious violations of international humanitarian law and human rights standards. The use of collective punishment, the targeting of civilians, the destruction of civilian property, and the obstruction of safe return for displaced persons constitute grave breaches of the Geneva Conventions and other international human rights treaties to which Pakistan is a signatory. We urge the United Nations, international human rights bodies, and the global community to urgently investigate these incidents in Sheikhri Kalat and hold the Pakistani state accountable. In its decision, the judge refused bail and ordered that the trial proceed before the same judge, in whom we have no trust. The Press Club authorities did not grant permission to hold the press conference inside the hall. After many attempts to secure permission failed, the families held their press conference outside the building. Even there, the police attempted to disrupt the event by pushing reporters and journalists away to prevent media coverage. Despite these obstacles and police interference, the families remained steadfast and continued their press conference outside the Press Club. This reflects a situation similar to undeclared martial law in Pakistan, where even families are not allowed to hold a peaceful press conference. International human rights organizations must take notice of these actions and hold Pakistan accountable for these serious violations of fundamental civil and human rights. The Karachi Police and law enforcement agencies (LEAs) have launched a violent crackdown on peaceful Baloch citizens and members of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC). The BYC had planned a mobilization campaign in Liyari, leading up to an event on January 25 in Dalbandin. However, when party members and participants arrived at Miran Naka near Liyari, they were met with force, baton charges, and arrests by the Sindh Police. Several BYC members were illegally arrested, including Lala Wahab Baloch, the Central Deputy Organizer, and Sammi Deen Baloch, Fouzia Baloch, and Amna Baloch. On this International Human Rights Day, BYC Central Member Sammi Deen Baloch states that Balochistan continues to face one of the gravest human rights crises of our time. Decades of systematic violence, fear, and repression have left deep psychological and socio-political wounds on the people of Balochistan. The suffering of the people of Balochistan remains largely ignored by the international community and by those organisations that call themselves champions of human rights. According to the BYC Human Rights Department, enforced disappearances have reached alarming levels, with 1,080 cases reported this year alone, including 53 minors. Disturbingly, Pakistani authorities are now targeting women and girls; 12 girls were forcibly disappeared in 2025, of whom three remain missing, and 189 extrajudicial killings were reported, including six women. Pakistani military operations, drone attacks, mortar shelling, artillery fire, and other assaults have become daily practices of the rogue paramilitary forces, resulting in the displacement of entire villages and small towns across the province. She highlights that human rights activists are the beacon of hope for oppressed people. Yet in Balochistan, human rights defenders are threatened, charged in fabricated cases, and hundreds of students and teachers face false accusations and FIRs for peaceful activism. Freedom of speech and expression is treated as a crime. Decades of systematic violence, fear, and repression have left deep psychological and socio-political wounds on the people of Balochistan. The suffering of the people of Balochistan remains largely ignored by the international community and by those organisations that call themselves champions of human rights. According to the BYC Human Rights Department, enforced disappearances have reached alarming levels, with 1,080 cases reported this year alone, including 53 minors. Disturbingly, Pakistani authorities are now targeting women and girls; 12 girls were forcibly disappeared in 2025, of whom three remain missing, and 189 extrajudicial killings were reported, including six women. Pakistani military operations, drone attacks, mortar shelling, artillery fire, and other assaults have become daily practices of the rogue paramilitary forces, resulting in the displacement of entire villages and small towns across the province. She highlights that human rights activists are the beacon of hope for oppressed people. Yet in Balochistan, human rights defenders are threatened, charged in fabricated cases, and hundreds of students and teachers face false accusations and FIRs for peaceful activism. Freedom of speech and expression is treated as a crime. Dear Baloch Nation, As you are aware, a national gathering is scheduled for January 25th to protest the ongoing Baloch genocide. Upon our arrival in Dalbandin, we observed a significant deployment of Frontier Corps (FC) personnel, along with a heavy contingent of police. Our Convoys traveling from other regions of Balochistan are being stopped along the way and denied entry in Dalbandin. Last night, the Pakistani military distributed pamphlets door-to-door in Dalbandin, issuing threats to residents to deter them from participating in the national gathering on January 25th. Dalbandin, unfortunately, lacks the presence of both local and international media. Social media, which served as our only means of amplifying our voices, has now been completely shut down. In light of these developments, we fear that the state might exploit the internet blackout to suppress our peaceful gathering through a crackdown. At the 61st Session of the UN Human Rights Council, Dr. Sabiha Baloch, the central leader of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee, raised her voice for the people of Balochistan, the largest province of Pakistan by area, the epicenter of foreign projects, and the most brutalized region in terms of human rights violations. She exposed the relentless campaign of enforced disappearances where not a single day passes without a Baloch individual being forcibly disappeared by the Pakistani state. She condemned the systematic target killing and body dumping of Baloch individuals as deliberate state policy. She made clear: those who dare to speak, journalists, students, lawyers, and human rights defenders face harassment, arrest, and prosecution under counterterrorism laws. Several BYC leaders, including Dr. Mahrang Baloch, have been detained for nearly a year and silenced for demanding nothing but justice. At last, Dr. Sabiha called upon the United Nations to conduct an independent assessment of the human rights situation in Balochistan.

بی وائی سی کے مرکزی رہنما سبغت اللہ شاہ جی کا ویڈیو پیغام۔ موجودہ صورت حال کو مدنظر رکھتے ہوئے عوام اپنے گھروں سے نہ نکلیں کیونکہ ریاست جو کچھ کر رہی ہے وہ کل کو عام بلوچ عوام کے نام نہ کیا جائے۔ جس طرح ریاستی پولیس اور خفیہ اداروں کے اہلکار عام عوام کو نقصان پہنچا رہے ہیں، ان پر براہِ راست فائرنگ کر رہے ہیں اور عوامی املاک کو نذر آتش کر رہے ہیں، اس صورتِ حال کو مدنظر رکھتے ہوئے بلوچ یکجہتی کمیٹی نے فیصلہ کیا ہے کہ آج رات کوئٹہ دھرنے کو موخر کرکے کل صبح آئندہ کے لائحہ عمل کا اعلان کیا جائے گا۔ #StopBalochGenocide

بلوچ یکجہتی کمیٹی کے رہنماؤں ڈاکٹر ماہ رنگ بلوچ اور ان کے دیگر ساتھیوں کا جیل ٹرائل کیا جا رہا ہے۔ جیل ٹرائل پاکستانی قانون کا حصہ نہیں ہے کیونکہ قانون کا بنیادی اصول یہ ہے کہ تمام ٹرائل اوپن کورٹ میں ہوتے ہیں، جہاں عوام اور میڈیا کو رسائی حاصل ہوتی ہے۔ عدالتوں کی شفافیت ہی ان کے فیصلوں کی ساکھ کی ضمانت ہوتی ہے۔ ریاست جب کسی شہری پر جرم کا الزام لگاتی ہے تو اسے بلا شبہ ثبوتوں کی بنیاد پر ثابت کرنا ہوتا ہے۔ یہ عمل جیل کی چار دیواری میں خفیہ کارروائی کے ذریعے نہیں کیا جا سکتا۔ خاص طور پر جب ڈاکٹر ماہ رنگ بلوچ اور بلوچ یکجہتی کمیٹی کے رہنماؤں پر سیاسی بنیادوں پر کیسز بنائے گئے ہوں اور انہیں صرف اپنی آواز بلند کرنے پر نشانہ بنایا گیا ہو، تو ان کا جیل ٹرائل کرنا غیر قانونی اور ناقابل قبول ہے۔ آئین و قانون میں کوئی ایسی شق موجود نہیں جو جیل ٹرائل کی اجازت دیتی ہو۔ ان بے گناہ افراد کو پچھلے تین مہینوں کے دوران کئی مرتبہ عدالتوں میں پیش کیا گیا ہے اور اس دوران کبھی عدالت کے وقار یا کارروائی میں رکاوٹ نہیں آئی۔ مگر اب میڈیا اور وکلاء تک رسائی نہ دینا آئین کے آرٹیکل 10-اے کی خلاف ورزی ہے، جو منصفانہ ٹرائل کی ضمانت دیتا ہے۔ ملزمان اور وکیل کے درمیان خصوصی رابطے کا حق بنیادی قانون کا تقاضا ہے، جس کے بغیر کوئی منصفانہ دفاع ممکن نہیں۔ #EndUnfairTrialOfBYCLeaders #ReleaseBYCLeaders

“The 3-MPO order expired without a review board but our companions were not released. Instead, police brought up old FIRs—cases in which we had already filed for bail and used them as grounds for new arrests without evidence. This wasn’t unexpected; we saw it coming and tried to follow every legal route available. Even today, when we went to get our legal papers signed to process bail, police refused, giving the same excuse as always: no senior officer present.
