The United Kingdom has spoken about reports of mass graves in Balochistan and continues to raise human rights issues with Pakistan. The United States, in its annual human rights report, has documented cases of killings, disappearances, and torture. On this International Human Rights Day, BYC Central Member Sammi Deen Baloch states that Balochistan continues to face one of the gravest human rights crises of our time. Decades of systematic violence, fear, and repression have left deep psychological and socio-political wounds on the people of Balochistan. The suffering of the people of Balochistan remains largely ignored by the international community and by those organisations that call themselves champions of human rights. According to the BYC Human Rights Department, enforced disappearances have reached alarming levels, with 1,080 cases reported this year alone, including 53 minors. Disturbingly, Pakistani authorities are now targeting women and girls; 12 girls were forcibly disappeared in 2025, of whom three remain missing, and 189 extrajudicial killings were reported, including six women. Pakistani military operations, drone attacks, mortar shelling, artillery fire, and other assaults have become daily practices of the rogue paramilitary forces, resulting in the displacement of entire villages and small towns across the province. She highlights that human rights activists are the beacon of hope for oppressed people. Yet in Balochistan, human rights defenders are threatened, charged in fabricated cases, and hundreds of students and teachers face false accusations and FIRs for peaceful activism. Freedom of speech and expression is treated as a crime. 𝗜𝗻 𝗕𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗱, the region once known as the "Greenbelt," people are now dying of hunger. The land is being divided, and the Baloch are forced to beg just to survive. We see the malnutrition and mothers dying during childbirth. In 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗿𝗮𝗻, the sea is on one side and the border on the other. Both sources of livelihood have been confiscated by the state. While the Baloch struggle to survive. People are being displaced from their homes, and the land is being handed over to others like charity. To resist this, the Baloch are being killed or disappearing. 𝗜𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝘀𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗮, Baloch culture and values are being eroded. Many are being pushed into a state of unaware slavery. 𝗜𝗻 𝗝𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗻, death squads operate freely. Women and children are being disappeared and harassed leaving families in a perpetual search with no answers. In these areas, drugs have become more accessible than food. Checkpoints across our land are complicit in these genocidal acts, even facilitating the movement of drugs destroying our youth. Overall, Balochistan has been turned into a "death well" defined by oppression, road accidents, cancer, extrajudicial killings, harassment, and enforced disappearances. There is a total collapse of health and education. The state calls this "security". What state destroys an entire nation to secure itself? This is not security; it is Genocide. For this reason, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee marks January 25th as #𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗵𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗗𝗮𝘆. We remember the mass graves of Tootak; to this day, we do not know who they were, but we know they were Baloch, and their mothers are still sitting on the roads searching for them. Last year, we spoke to the world about the Baloch Genocide in Dalbandin. Today, the circumstances are even more dire. The state is using all its power to crush every voice that rises by killing, imprisoning, and disappearing. But being silent isn't an option. Therefore, we appeal to every Baloch across the world who are free to move and speak: Raise your voice. Recently, pictures of Jyothi Yarraji receiving her gold medal went viral. Not because of the race. Not because she became India’s fastest woman in the 100m hurdles. But because of 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗿. An almost empty stadium. No roaring crowd. No packed stands. No national celebration. Just silence. And that silence says far more about us than it does about her. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴? We’ve seen this pattern again and again. In India, sports 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽, even when Indian athletes perform at the highest level. But ask those same people about the state of Indian football, or 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗮 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀, and most would have no idea. The Pakistani state shows no sign of relenting in its targeting of the Baloch. Because of this, every single instance of enforced disappearance or extrajudicial killing especially those not yet registered with any official organisation must be documented immediately. It is the responsibility of the families to ensure these cases are recorded. The Baloch Yakjehti Committee is currently working on this documentation process. We urge everyone to contact the BYC to register their cases via: 1: Social Media Accounts 2: Official Email 3: BYC Human Rights Representatives. We request that you submit these cases as soon as possible. Today in Quetta, the ATC extended the remand of Dr. Mahrang Baloch and other BYC leaders by another 15 days. That makes ninety days under the 3MPO, fifteen in illegal custody, and sixty-five in police remand—nearly six months of imprisonment without a shred of evidence. For 57 days we have protested in Islamabad with nothing but our voices and our resolve. Inside parliament, ministers claim BYC’s fate lies with the courts. Outside, we see how those courts truly function: judges removed for refusing to extend remand, suspended FIRs revived when televised lies collapse. The vision of sovereignty and development for the Republic of Balochistan 15 July, 2026 Balochistan belongs one hundred percent to the Baloch people. Every mountain, every desert, every sea, every forest, and every mineral resource of Balochistan is the historical, legal, and moral property of the Baloch nation. When even a Supreme Court judge admits his head hangs in shame, that judicial independence is over, and that the state itself is complicit in enforced disappearances—where should families go? It is truly a moment for national level introspection when courts express the same sense of helplessness as victim families. There are courts across the country where cases of enforced disappearances are pending even today. Thousands of families from Balochistan, Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh are still awaiting justice. Hundreds of families await compliance with production orders issued by both the courts and the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances. Often, it appears even issuance of such production orders is futile since their compliance is, more often than not, not ensured. This is the same system that then brands BYC activists as ‘terrorists’ for asking them to uphold the constitution they swore an oath to protect. This contradiction lays bare what we already know: enforced disappearances, fake encounters, extrajudicial killings—the state is behind them all. And the violence is so vast that even if an arm of the state (i.e. the judiciary or the Parliament) wanted to recover the disappeared, it would not know which dungeon holds whom, or which mutilated body lies in which grave. That is why Baloch mothers sit in Islamabad: not only for their sons, but for every face turned into a poster, every grave left without a name. The judiciary must play its part and ensure the most vulnerable are given protection of law, that their fundamental rights are protected not just on paper but in practice. Today, one independent minded judge apologised for failing families of the disappeared and stated that his head hangs in shame seeing the agony of Baloch women on the streets. Is the rest of the judiciary asleep? Or are the collaborators of this practice in the judiciary going to continue playing their part in attempting to erase the forcibly disappeared? If the judiciary is forced to hang its head in shame, history will not forgive this shame. It will indict its silence in the erasure of an entire people.
