Since then, we’ve knocked on every legal door, exhausted every lawful means to secure their release. According to the law, their detention period ended on June 22. Bibarg Baloch’s was due to end on June 25. Under 3MPO, a Review Board including the Chief Justice and senior judges must convene, review their case, and personally hear them. But no such board was ever formed. We repeatedly asked: on what legal grounds are they still imprisoned after June 22? The only response we received were baseless excuses that the ‘situation outside isn’t suitable,’ so they are being held for 15 more days. We challenged this, no individual has that authority. Only a formal Review Board can decide. Still, no official notification was provided. Our time was wasted. We went to the jail and waited the entire day. When we insisted, they finally brought a document but strictly forbade us from copying or photographing it. We were shown nothing official. No Review Board ever met. This is a completely illegal act. Under such lawlessness, even breathing has become unsafe. At the 61st Session of the UN Human Rights Council, Dr. Sabiha Baloch, the central leader of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee, raised her voice for the people of Balochistan, the largest province of Pakistan by area, the epicenter of foreign projects, and the most brutalized region in terms of human rights violations. She exposed the relentless campaign of enforced disappearances where not a single day passes without a Baloch individual being forcibly disappeared by the Pakistani state. She condemned the systematic target killing and body dumping of Baloch individuals as deliberate state policy. She made clear: those who dare to speak, journalists, students, lawyers, and human rights defenders face harassment, arrest, and prosecution under counterterrorism laws. Urgent Update on BYC Leaders Dr. Mahrang Baloch and other leaders of the Baloch Yekjehti Committee (BYC) were supposed to be presented in court yesterday. They were not produced. Instead, they were quietly presented today without informing their families or lawyers. An additional five day remand was granted. At the same time, internet services were suspended to block information. This is a blatant violation of Pakistan’s Constitution: Article 10-A – Right to a fair trial Article 10 – Safeguards against arbitrary arrest and detention Shockingly, this hearing was held on September 6th (Defense Day), a national holiday in Pakistan, and when no lawyers were present in court. We are deeply concerned about the safety of BYC leaders who are being detained on false charges. We demand a clear, impartial, and fair trial. Today in Quetta, the ATC extended the remand of Dr. Mahrang Baloch and other BYC leaders by another 15 days. That makes ninety days under the 3MPO, fifteen in illegal custody, and sixty-five in police remand—nearly six months of imprisonment without a shred of evidence. For 57 days we have protested in Islamabad with nothing but our voices and our resolve. Inside parliament, ministers claim BYC’s fate lies with the courts. Outside, we see how those courts truly function: judges removed for refusing to extend remand, suspended FIRs revived when televised lies collapse. The laws used against the Baloch were never written to protect us; they were designed to justify our persecution. And when a judge, after fifty years in law, chooses the colonel over the constitution, what remains is only disgrace. We demand the immediate and unconditional release of BYC leaders. Their imprisonment has never been about law or evidence. It is about silencing those who organize peacefully, who invoke the Constitution instead of the gun, who insist that the voices of Baloch families cannot be erased. The Karachi Police and law enforcement agencies (LEAs) have launched a violent crackdown on peaceful Baloch citizens and members of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC). The BYC had planned a mobilization campaign in Liyari, leading up to an event on January 25 in Dalbandin. However, when party members and participants arrived at Miran Naka near Liyari, they were met with force, baton charges, and arrests by the Sindh Police. Several BYC members were illegally arrested, including Lala Wahab Baloch, the Central Deputy Organizer, and Sammi Deen Baloch, Fouzia Baloch, and Amna Baloch. The area has been besieged, with police targeting only Baloch citizens. Sammi Deen Baloch is being held at the Karadar Police Station, while Lala Wahab Baloch is at the Chakiwara Police Station.
